A Rant about Travel

Recommended Posts

So I know it kinda comes with the territory, but I am so upset right now. I needed to know the name of a place I had bought something so I checked my credit card statement and while I was looking at it, I saw all the transactions for our trip and our photographers trip and then I saw my balance, higher than I thought. Well, stupid me, I don't know why I do this to myself but...I went on expedia and travelocity and searched the trips and DAMN IT if the prices haven't dropped, ALOT!!!!! If it was like a hundred bucks I wouldn't care, but the cost of my 8 day 7 night trip dropped $652!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!huh.gif And my photographers dropped $256!!! That is over $900 difference, that would pay for half of my wedding package at the resort. I know I can't do anything about it, but god I am so mad right now!

Actually, when you have that large of a difference in price, some airlines will credit you the difference back to your account. Especially if you aren't changing airlines or flights or times. You should call your airlines or your TA and look into it. Sometimes, they will charge you a change of ticket fee which can range from $50-150 but still give you the difference back. Hope that helps!

My "TA" is destinationweddings.com and 3 or so weeks ago I had noticed a smaller difference on my trip and asked her about it out of curiosity, it wasn't alot so I wasn't too concerned. She called me a day later and told me there was nothing she could do. I have contacted her in this case and I told her that I would really like something done since it is such a large amount, I will see what she says.

If you have travel insurance you will be credited the price difference. If you don't have the insurance they are not obligated to lower your price but sometimes they can work around things. We got a great deal on our package but then a couple weeks later I noticed it was $150 per couple cheaper. I wasn't super upset about it because I tought we still got a great price but I mentioned it to my travel agent just in case and she was able to lower the prices of all our packages since it was the resort that lowered their costs and not the airlines.
