Customs Question?

Recommended Posts

I need help and Im pretty sure this will help a lot of ladies here too..What can or can't we take to JA? What will we get taxed on once we get to customs on JA? Well these questions came up because FI and I were talking about bringing stuff in our suitcase and he said if I bring a lot of new stuff over they will tax us on it and if we don't have cash right then to pay the tax (esp with tags on them, or in boxes) they will take it? Well he's from JA so I trust what he say, but did anyone have any problems? I'm wanted to bring my center pieces over and of course my flowers..Help someone

I had no problems bringing in anything for the wedding. I think the Customs Agents are pretty used to seeing wedding stuff and since it is for personal use and you will be taking it back with you, it really isn't an issue.

I don't know if your FI being a citizen will affect anything.

I would check out the official Customs page:

Jamaica Customs Department

This page also has entry/exit info:

Jamaica : Planning a Trip : Entry Requirements & Customs | Frommers.com

While I didn't bring centerpieces, I had no problems with customs & bringing any of my wedding stuff. When they asked why we were visiting Jamaica, we told them we were getting married, which also explained why we had so much luggage.

They said congratulations & sent us on our way.
