Help! Destination Wedding Planners??

Hi Everyone,

 

I am in the process of starting to plan my March 2010 wedding. I feel really overwhelmed by it all. A few weeks ago, my fiance Jason and I went to a travel agent to begin our search for a location. Since then we have had very little luck. She is only looking up places that I ask her to. I had two places in mind but because I am a teacher and we have to go on Spring Break, the prices were outrageous. So since those two places were a no go, she has only offered one other suggestion. I am not finding her to be very helpful at all.

 

Last night, I was online and found a site for Nancy K's all inclusive resorts. Apparently they help you with the bookings at no charge as long as your guests book through them. I'm wondering if anyone has gone this route, with a destination planner or if I am safest to go through a travel agent, perhaps I just need to find a better one?

 

I know once this initial stuff is taken care of, the rest will be much more fun!

 

Any advice you have would be soooo appreciated!

Welcome!

I spoke to a Destination Wedding Planner as well as multiple Destination Wedding Travel Agents, and a regular Travel Agent.

I"m very happy that I piced a TA that specializes in Destination Weddings. They know the most about the resorts and the wedding coordinators and how to get things done....and have taken a lot of the stress off of me!

Hi Michelle, welcome to the forum! We have some very helpful TA's on this website that specialize in DW's! Perhaps they can help you? You need to be comfortable with your TA, you will have a relationship for awhile through this process. Good Luck on your planning!

Hi...I was thinking of using a travel agent as well. Is there any travel agency out there that anyone would recommend?? I came across Luxe Destination Weddings website...but there was such bad reviews of them in this forum that I decided against it.

Hi Michelle. Welcome to the forum. I was a teacher for 9 years (before I became a professional photographer) so I know how expensive traveling at Spring Break can be. I am sure the forum will be a great place for information and hopefully will help to alleviate some of the stress.
