Should I wait to book until air and resort can be booked together?

Recommended Posts

I think I'm feeling the way everyone else is- I'm just so excited to get going that it's hard to wait! But...I'm happy to hear that it's possible to book your wedding ceremony date without doing air and hotel as well, I think that's what I'm most worried about.

Marie- I can't believe you have 25 confirmed guests- that is awesome for so far out from the date! I definitely have no idea who will actually venture to Jamaica for our wedding, I guess I'll just turn it in to a fun guessing game...

I used a TA for my hotel accomodations in Jamaica. I did not put together a package because in my group there are people who I know have a ton of miles and will use their miles for the airfare. There are quite a few in my group who will only travel first class and will want to make their own arrangements. Air Jamaica stopped flying from LA, ( I am devastated!) so there are lots of airlines to choose from and the prices are all comparable. The big difference is schedule. Additionally since I started planning, airfare has went down. My point in saying all this is that I think you have to look at your guests and their requirements to help you decide whether to book everything as a package.

There was another thread similar to this - I'm using a TA for my Hotel booking to get the better rates and I have rooms blocked. She will help my guests get airfare if they want, or they can do their own if they want - it's totally up to the guest preference. Personally I would rather let someone else do all of the work! With the TA the room rate for the blocked rooms is also guaranteed, so it can't go up, but if it goes down we can get the better rate.

Marie - I'm like you - I want to do everything NOW : ) I almost wish it was this year and not next year!

I don't know a whole lot about booking flights and stuff so I might be using the wrong terminology but our TA bought some sort of tickets that allow us to get a lower price within a certain period of time if the rates go down. It was something like bulk air or contract air maybehuh.gif I don't know if that helps or not but you might ask the TA's you talk to :-)

Good luck!
