Has anyone done OOT bags for 50+ guests?

Recommended Posts

We are doing bags for 50+ people. In them will be personalized flip flops from partyflops, hand sanitizers, small pouch with advil, sunblock and pepto bismol. We are giving each person a bag. It's a lot to bring but I am packing a few extra suitcases and paying the checked baggage fees.

We had 60 people and did one OOT per room. We had travel stadium cups (one per person) - a 20 page book I made with guest pics and information about the hotel, spanish for dummies - a postcard with instructions (to bring to the wedding as a part of our guest book) - hand lotion - personalized first aid kits - pens - gum and advil.

Has anyone shipped the OOT bags to the guest two weeks or so before leaving? I realize there will be an extra shipping cost but it sounds so much easier. Then you can just make it more of a getting ready for the trip package and get the excitement going. Or does that defeat the whole purpose? I would love to hear some thoughts on this.

We did monogrammed OOT bags for 60 people which contained sunblock, aloe vera gel, playing cards, spanish for dummies, manicure kit, tissues, first aid kit, pepto and advil, certs, mini-towel, hand sanitizer and a personalized stadium cup. Everyone loved the bags and they were a huge hit!

I like the beach towel idea, but for 50+ people it seems like too much to take with. My resort says not to ship anything there first sad.gif

We did bags for 84... yikes... You can see the details in my planning thread.

We opted to have a "pre-Cuba Strategy party at our house" following that, I maiiled out about 6 or 8 packages to people that couldn't join us for the strategy party. The strategy party was an awesome kickoff to the wedding.

We originally had 60 plus guests coming to our wedding. After economy , violence in Mexico and Swine flu issues hit, we dropped to 40+. I had 50 bags and bought 98 travel cups before the numbers dropped. We were giving one bag per family with a cup and koozie for each member or one bag per single. I used extra bags and cups as Thank You gifts for the girls that held showers for us that couldn't come to the wedding. We also used the cups for door prizes at the showers.

Once I bought and gathered all the items, I knew I couldn't take them to Mexico so we delivered/shipped ours the week before we left so everyone had them in time to pack their own bags.

Issues to consider:

Customs : Mexico only allows up to $300 of wedding stuff and they do ask for receipts if you are checked.

Shipping : Some resorts don't accept shipments and it was probably easier/cheaper to pack them for delivery in the U.S borders without dealing with customs.

Size! Once we started gathering up your items, We had way too much even for extra checked bags with the stuff we had to take for the ceremony.

p.s. here is a photo of our travel mugs. They were awesome. Even the guys used them for their beer and drinks after the first day because the drinks at the resort are small and do get hot quickly. The insulation in these things really worked well. The other good thing about these were the lids came apart. If you wanted to use it like a regular travel mug, you could or you could take of the slider part of the lid and it left a lid with a big straw hole in the middle.
