From Wedding Gown to Wearable Dress??

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I intend on having a fairly simple dress for my beach wedding and want to be able to alter it and maybe dye it to wear as my formal dress on cruises or other events. (no TTD shoot for me)

I just don't know if it is a realistic thought or not, haha.

So....Has anyone successfully altered their wedding gown into a dress that's wearable later on?

I have not done it...but I am considering it!! I loved my dress & think it would look fab as a knee length cocktail dress!! Maybe in black...but I was thinking something more bright!! I'm not sure what is involved though...it might not be possible...& it might cost a fortune since it is a wedding dress (seamstress's see wedding dress & think chi-ching!$!$!$)

By the way...you could still do a TTD & keep the dress...the dress will be fine - as long as it doesn't get torn!!

So funny that you say that, I was planning on making a pillow for our first child's crib with the excess material since I doubt that a) i'll christen my child and B) there will be enough for a cute dress.

A woman I know cut up her wedding gown and made dresses for her twin daughters for easter.
