wedding help from the DC/Maryland folk

Recommended Posts

hey ladies,

this might be a long shot but i wanted to throw it out there.

my bff is getting married next year with a 20k total budget. her family squashed the DW idea, so she somehow has to do it all on this 20k budget. i know 20k would hardly get me anywhere in nj, so she is really struggling with being right outside of DC where everything is pricier.

has anyone been to a wedding in the silver spring/chevy chase/bethesda area that seemed like it was on a reasonable budget? a park? restaurant?

any ideas would be appreciated.

I really liked the Glenview mansion. Welcome to Glenview Mansion

It's not that expensive to rent and has a really nice garden area with steps leading down, which I thought was a beautiful entrance for the bride. They have a lot of weddings there. The only thing I didn't like about the mansion was that inside their isn't one big area for a big group to sit down and eat, like a banquet room. But one feature I liked was that they have an art gallery or something like that upstairs that they will open for a while during your time there which I thought would be interesting for the guests. I know it's not one of the cities you named but Rockville isn't far from those places.

Here's another good place Milton Ridge Maryland Wedding Chapels | Wedding Sites Maryland | Weddings Churches | Reception Site in Maryland Reception Wedding They have their pricing listed on the site. They have several packages some include photography. I think to rent the reception hall and chapel with photography is like 6200$. You still have to pay for food. The place is nice though and the Photog is really good, she has a blog, they have the link on the site. I think she could definitely do a wedding there for under 20,000$

no problem. Oh, and one other place that would be good for a reception is Maggiano's. They have their prices for a wedding banquet listed on their site. They have adult and kid pricing but they also have like young adults pricing I guess you could say for like 13-20 year old's. So it definitely helps make the food more affordable. My sister's love this place, I personally haven't been though. My sister went there for some kind of banquet and she said it's like they bring food out non-stop. Her friend went there also, different event, but she said the same thing, they bring out so much food. So it is definitely a good value. There is one in Chevy Chase, I believe. I think they may have a room for ceremonies too, but I'm not positive. Tell your friend, good luck and 20,000 is plenty to have a nice wedding in this area.

One of my good girlfriends had her wedding reception at the Maggianos at Chevy Chase. It was so fun because they did it family style and each table got to pick out what dishes they wanted. Maggianos is always delicious too!

I think as long as your friend stays away from having her ceremony/reception at a hotel then she should be able to swing 20k. For some reason hotels get you on every little thing!
