Hi all!

I am currently looking for a photographer for my Dreams Tulum wedding on June 3rd 2010. I am trying to figure out whether it is less expensive to book one from Mexico or to bring one from home...any ideas? Can anyone give me their opinion?

I can honestly say I didn't think a photographer would cost so much lol! Some packages they offer vary so much from one to another, I found one who was charging close to $5000 and didn't even include any print outs!! Only online or DVD!

Thanks!

Hello,

I think its just a matter of what your looking for in a photographer. I know the reason alot of people like the idea of bringing in their own photographer, is because you get more bang for your buck (so to speak) For example, you'll get family/friend photos the day before your ceremony, then all day wedding coverage, and usually a TTD session the day after. Versus most local photographers, charge by hour, so most of the time you don't get as much, but that's not saying it still wouldn't work. How many people are you expecting?

Try searching through the photographers on the site. There are so many for so many price ranges, and so many different styles! Find what you want and like in a photographer then start contacting them. I think then if you lay out on paper what each photographer is offering and price you can really see what you are getting and who will suit your needs.

My husband and I were married in Playa del Carmen Mexico on April 7, 2006. Our photographer was Michael Maurus and he was amazing!! His wife (our minister) and him were devoted and personal on our wedding day and the pictures were perfect! His website is Wedding Photographer for Cancun, Riviera Maya Even looking at the pictures on the site are beautiful but it seems like ours are even better :) Let me know if you need anymore help :)

It's hard to say which is less expensive since it really varies by the photographer (as well as what you're looking for in a package). I would recommend contacting photographers that you think would be a good match for you and your fiance - both style and personality wise. Then you can narrow options down from there. You have a while to decide, so take your time, have fun with it, and make sure to find someone you really love. :)

25 isnt small for a DW... Im shooting one in the virgin islands in May that has like 8 people. I think its going to be just as fun :)

and ya. you just have to weigh out all the pros and cons and what you value and what photographers there will offer and what flying in a photographer offers. Most photographers there are just with you for the day or part of the day. Where as bringing in a photograpehr they are usually with you for the days they are there.

choosing a photographer is going to be one of your most important decisions so choose wisely young grasshopper wink.gif

I loved our photographer! He has different price ranges and it sounds like you may have spoke to him - but he was amazing and he took pictures the entire trip - and he entertained during the reception. He was the largest expense of our wedding and I'm so glad I did it that way.

I decided he was worth the money when I compared local photographers that charged $3K but only shot for a day.
