Hi! I'm Lori, and this is my first post. My weddding date is Oct 3rd (I know its hurricane season then, but having lived in Savannah, GA and Charleston SC all my life- I'm not run off by hurricanes). I am having SO much difficulty picking a resort. Any advice from those married in the Maya Riviera region would be greatly aprreciated. I only have about 8 guests coming, and chose a destination wedding to dodge the planning and stress coupled with my inability to make a decision. I definatly want my wedding in this region, and it has to be at an allinclusive resort (my dadwon't go anywhere else). My fiance has requested "a beach like the ones you see on the Travel Channel" whhich has led my closer to the Maroma beach area. The quality of the resort beaches (sand texture, water color and clarity, and ability to do minor snorkeling are priority. My fiance has never been out of the country ( I have been 6 or 7 times to the Caribbean and Mexico alone) so it is SO important not to disappoint him. I fell in love with El Dorado Royale, but I'm more of a fun loving, margarita girl than a romantic, uppity food girl (alhtough quality of food is very important- I wasn't impressed with the Palace resort food last time I went to Cancun). I don't want outside vendors, I want to keep it simple, and I want vibrant mango and magenta tropical flowers, so if your know of a the perfect resort for me...PLEASE help!! Thanks!

Hi Lori! I am also a Riviera Maya bride. I will be married 22 May 09, at Aventura Spa Resort. You will find this site very helpful. There are many DIY brides on this site so if you need help with anything...just ask...someone will point you in the right direction.

Congrats and Welcome!!

Hi Lori, welcome4.gif to the forum! If the quality of beach is an issue be sure to read reviews on Tripadvisor too. I also love the El dorado Royale but have read that it is one of the many beaches that is suffering from beach errosion. (Some resorts are putting really ugly huge sandbags just out a short distance in the water). I would suggest THe Royal Playa del Carmen, you can bring in outside vendors with a small fee and the beach is gorgeous! Good Luck with your planning!
