Hello all. We are a couple in Edmonton planning an April 2010 wedding in Cancun. We are currently having trouble deciding between the Riu Cancun and Riu Caribe. We love the location of the Riu Cancun but its seems the Riu Caribe can accomodate a larger group and they have a ballroom for a private reception. Any Riu brides/grooms with some advise. Thanks

Hello all, my fiance and I are having troubles deciding between these two resorts in Cancun. We love the location of the Riu Cancun and the fact that there is some sort of a nightclub at the resort, whereas Riu Caribe seems to be able to accomodate larger weddings and has a ballroom for private receptions. Has anyone recently gone to a wedding to either of these resorts? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hola!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

RIU Hotels they are very nice, RIU Cancun is located near to the clubs, mall etc.. but hey don´t have ballrooms, RIU Caribe is a big resort with big ballrooms but is not near of all the fun ground, both are nice places.

Good luck and happy planning :)

Hi,

Welcome to the forum! I got married at Riu las americas (next door to riu cancun) and I rented out the club at RIU cancun for the reception. That hotel is very pretty. I put a link below to the the RIU Cancun thread where you can find pics and info of the hotels. It has info on all three RIU's in Cancun (cancun, las americas, and caribe). There may not be as much info as you may need on Caribe, but it will be helpful because all three RIU's have the same rules/info and use the same WC.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
