Help me please with my WC idea

Recommended Posts

smile29.gifHi ladies,

My FI and I just booked a weekend to RM next week. We plan to go and check out some of the locations we have in mind.

Adventura Cove Palace

Barcelo Maya Beach

My question to current or past brides is, did you use an outside WC while having a resort wedding. I'm asking because I just got the bright idea to maybe hire one, so that we will have someone with our best interest to maybe go around to visit locations next weekend. It is so frustrating waiting on responses from the resorts for weeks at a time. Plus, I would like thier services for decorating on the actual day as well.

Anyone have advice or recommendationshuh.gif?

Thanks in advance.

Our resort charges an outside vendor fee. So if you don't use their florist, photographer, etc. there's a fee. For some items/services it's less expensive to use an outside vendor, but for the most part, it was easier for us to use the resort's. We are having an outside photog and dj though. So, although an outside wc may be able to get you a great deal, those outside vendor fees can add up (if your resort has them).

I was such a control freak I ended up coordinating the whole thing myself. It turned out beautifully and very intimate but I wish I could have found someone to just take care of logistics from the time the first guest arrived until after the reception. Someone to make sure everyone was able to get their rental car or shuttle, get people to excursions if they wanted, pay all the vendors.

I did learn though, that if I wanted something that was not package A/B/C that I:

Did not want a resort wedding or a resort coordinator

Did need to be very specific about what I wanted. That meant that I should have spent a week at my location to find out exactly where things should happen and who I wanted to do things (musicians, etc)

...but then again - I am a control freak and often do things the hard way. I did see a great string on here about questions to ask your coordinator.
