Hello Valerie!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

Where were you planning to get married in Mexico?

I've been living in Cabo San Lucas for 6 years and never had any problems of any kind, and in my opinion the USA right now is a more violent country than mexico. Mexico is a wonderful country and the people are warm welcoming and very friendly...The drug war is a very isolated phenomenom and does not take place in the wedding destination cities like Cabo, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta.

I got married in Tulum last year, with friends and relatives from all around the world, every body had a great time...

Hope this will give you a better opinion of Mexico!

My husband and I have lived in Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo for 2 years and we have discussed this very concern with our friends often over the past month or so. From what we have heard and experienced, there is little to worry about in tourist centres. We feel safe in Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo. I hope this helps.

Hello Valerie,

Welcome to the forum and I wish you a very fun wedding planning. Unfortunately the media does tend to get people away from certain countries due to "generic news" Mexico is a huge country and not all Mexico Cities have drug or violence problems. Tourist towns are very safe and very pretty actually. Too bad news like those are affecting people's judgement. I've been living Cabo for 16 years and I've never been in a safer place in my life!

Congratulations on your wedding :)
