Portable Dress Steamer?

Recommended Posts

Did anyone take there own dress steamer with them? I am looking into this as i dont want to send my dress away to do this....(our resort sends them away)

Just wondering if the portable ones are just as good.

My dress is pretty simple. Just straight satin.

Hoping to get some feedback...

Thanks :)

I did not take one down myself but another BDW bride did so and I borrowed hers. I did not use it, but I do know that the steamers do a good job, however the regular iron does an even better job, My WC also mentioned that most girls just wrap the dress in plastic and let the steam from the shower smooth out the wrinkles. Satin should be reallly easy to straighten out with the shower and steamer

I bought a portable steamer from Bed, Bath, & Beyond for 30 bucks that I'm planning on bringing with me. It is about the size of a hair straightener, so it will fit easily into my suitcase. I haven't tried it out yet, but if I ever remember to try it, I'll let you know how it works!

I brought one with me b/c I wasn't sure if my resort "steamed" dresses or only ironed them... And since my dress was organza it had to be steamed, not ironed...

I tried it out before leaving on a section of my dress -- and it worked!

(But when we got to our resort, it turned out they did offer steaming...so I never used it in Mexico...) However, I've used it on other clothes since then and it works:-)

I have a dupioni silk dress, would love to hear what other ladies thought? I def. want to bring a steamer with me, I dont trust it to the resort or some 3rd party steaming vendor. If there is a particular brand that works best would be great to know.
