It came yesterday and I've been kind of obsessed with it since it came. I really like uploading the information to the website and seeing what I've done for the day and pulling it all together with my food log.

I've been sick for the past week, so I haven't made it to the gym in the last few days, but I'm hoping to go tomorrow so that I can really test this thing out!

I'll be the bodybugg guinea pig, I'll keep everyone posted.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my bodybugg....

I got started with it 3 or 4 years ago when I went on a "lose weight kick". The trainer I worked with recommended it. I used it for 3 months, didn't keep up my part of the bargin (you know, the working out and eating right part) and didn't lose any weight. So I promptly put it away in a drawer.

Fast forward to last spring. After graduating I didn't realize exactly how much weight I had put on in school until I went to the doctor and actually saw the number on the chart. I went home and cried. Then I pulled out my bodybugg, reactivated it and got to work.

I lost 50lbs and went from 36% body fat to 21%.

It wasn't easy and it's not a magic pill BUT what it does do is remind you that it's all a numbers game. If you eat more calories than you burn you gain, if you burn more than you eat you lose. And when the numbers are right in front of you it's hard to ignore.

A couple things to consider:

Monthly fee to use the online program: 14.99 I think + the cost of the bugg and misc stuff you need to work it.

It takes some time and effort to keep up with the food log input but once you get in a routine it gets easier.

It's useless if you don't honestly record what you're eating and take the time to input foods you eat that aren't in the database. Remember, if you lie to yourself about portion sizes the only one you're hurting is you.

So...that's my experience. If you have any questions or want some ideas for tricks I learned just PM me, I'm happy to discuss it.

Good luck-you can do it!

Yes - it is visible. I think they have a newer model that's a little smaller but it's hard to hide. I was conscious of it the first month or so but after that it was just like putting on my shoes. People ask what it is sometimes and it's a great conversation starter but for the most part I forget it's on. If you have approximately the same activity level at certain times - like at work if you sit a lot - you could probably get away with wearing it once and after that just estimating that you burn the same amount of calories during that time frame each day. I don't wear it 100% of the time anymore. Especially now that I'm closer to my goal weight. After a while you train yourself to estimate about how many calories you're burning depending on what you've done for the day automatically.

Sorry for all the lengthy answers....

Yay!! I'm so glad you posted! Today was my first day back at the gym after being sick and I busted my butt! I really love the bodybugg website, I love all the information that it pulls together for you regarding what you eat and your calories.

Mine actually came with a 6 months subscription, so that helped, then I can probably just switch to the $14.99 a month afterwards.

Yes, I did find the food log to be a little time consuming, but once you enter the things you eat frequently, it's not so bad because they're right there. So I think it will be okay once I get more items logged.

I'm a little bit obsessed with wanting to see how many calories I'm burning!!

Once I get a little further into it I will probably have questions for you. I just have to see how its working for me before I can guage what I may or may not be doing right.

Depends what you're wearing. I have the black one, which is the most recent version, you wear it on your tricep so depending on what type of sleeve you have on it would be more or less obvious. Today I had a loose 3/4 length sleeve, and you couldn't tell I had it on.

But as Vikki mentioned, you can wear it once, and if you basically do the same thing everyday you can have it estimate your burn the same as the day before. But I'm really obsessed with it, so I'd rather wear it. :)

So, I was telling FI about wanting a BodyBugg but we agreed that it just seemed to expensive. Well, yesterday he came home with a surprise. He said he was really proud of the fact that I've been working out and that he wanted to be supportive so he bought me a Timex heart rate monitor. It's really cool. It tracks calories, heart rate, timer, etc. It has a band that you wear under your clothes just below your bra and syncs up with a watch. You can't even tell I'm wearing it. The best part? He got it a Costco for $45. It's the timex ironman watch. They also have a Garmin one for $90 that comes with more options. I'm using an online calorie counter to track my calories and then comparing it to what I'm burning. It's perfect for me.
