Sandals Royal Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been to a wedding at Sandals Royal Caribbean or gotten married there? We are getting married there June 17th and I am starting to get nervous because there is no information about anyone getting married at that resort. I know it is not as popular as SGOR but, we didn't want to travel 2 hours once we got to Jamaica. Anyone have any information to share, I would really appreciate it!!

Thanks :)

I wouldn't worry as it is a Sandals Resort. They are all beautiful and make sure everything is perfect for you. Our Sandals Selects Mag came the other day and had a great review about the SRC and the offerings. I will see if I can find that for you online. Have you checked in with Trip Advisor and Hotels.com for some reviews? This was helpful for me as I was the first Beaches Negril bride here to the forum and needed to outsource help from other websites in finding girls that had been married there.

Hi, Rurbanski --

Well, I don't know if this is going to be exactly helpful, as I am 98% sure I am going to book my May 2010 wedding at SGOR, but SRC is where we are planning to honeymoon! We picked SGOR to not only keep costs lower for our guests, but because it seemed to be able to offer a little more in the way of variety (not only the 2 differernt sides, Manor or Riviera, but since it's sooo big, there are 9 restaurants, 3 buffets, plenty of different room "levels", and lots of different activites). The clincher for me was a wedding location at SGOR that I just love (the Roman Gazebo) so that helped make the decision on which resort was right for me!

However, my FI and I also wanted to experience a more intimate resort feel, too -- so we are going to spend the first 4 nights at SGOR and have our wedding there, and then after guests depart, just he and I are heading to SRC for another 3 nights for a mini-honeymoon! (We are planning on staying in the Honeymoon Concierge Beachfront Walkout Room).

It's a goregous resort and I have read AMAZING reviews on Trip Advisor, so check them out! Don't feel discouraged by not seeing a lot of reviews on this site about SRC or Sandals as a whole; I felt the same way. There are enough threads about RIU and Dreams resorts to make your head spin! It doesn't necessarily mean that those places are superior to Sandals resorts -- it just means that different resorts ended up being the right "fit" for those brides for their own personal reasons. Besides, at a resort smaller than SGOR you are more likely to experience a higher degree of personal attention and might be the only couple to marry there on the day you've picked for your wedding! How special that would be!

Best wishes,

Christie

  • 5 weeks later...

I have been to SRC three years in a row, and just got back a couple weeks ago (and that's where we got engaged!) We just love it there, the staff is wonderful, as is the property and everything else. We are considering getting married there in a small, private ceremony in April. If you have any specific questions about that resort in particular, please feel free to ask.

Although I don't know much about the weddings there, I know a good deal about the resort itself from our prior three stays. I will also be continuing to research wedding options there (trying to decide if the free carefree package will work for us, along with some add-ons).

Actually, while I am writing this I might as well ask- do you know if you MUST stay in a concierge level room in order to qualify for the free carefree wedding package? I think the website is confusing and unclear on that. They make it sound like you qualify no matter what room you stay in, but you may have to pay the govt/admin fees of $200 (which I totally wouldn't mind, it's just that it is not totally clear to me whether the wedding would actually be free for me because of the level room we will likely stay in). Any insight on that would be great!

Hi

We're going to renew our wedding vows for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in May. I've upgraded my flowers, booked hair appointment etc.

The renewal of vows has some of the same things you get with the full wedding package but not everything. Will let you know all about it when we get back to UK.

Hi Britni!

The basic wedding ( now called the carefree wedding ) is free regardless of the room category. However you will still be responsible for the island givermental fees.

If you stay for 6 nights in a concierge room (Sandals) then Sandals will actually pay those required goverment fees for you!

HTH!
