Has anyone chosen/tried on this dress?

Recommended Posts

The closer it gets for me to actually start trying on wedding dresses, I'm starting to lean towards shorter dresses... With that being said,

Has anyone tried/chose this gown:

Alfred Angelo #1142

Alfred Angelo... Find the perfect Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, Prom Dress, Flower Girl Dress or Mother of the Bride Dress at Alfred Angelo.

I'm adding this to the growing list of dresses that I will try on. What do you think?

I like it! Usually I don't really like the short dresses, but I like how it is a little longer in the back, and look at all the beading! My 1st dress was an Alfred Angelo, and the pics don't do it justice with all the lace and beading, I bet this one will be gorgeous in person!

I think I have tried on this dress or an older verson of it but I know it was an AA. I loved this dress also, and thought about having my original dress and then this verson as my reception and AHR dress. In the end I did not go with this and kept my orig dress as my all around dress because I loved my 1st dress too much. I will say it will all depend on your height. I am only 5'2 and I would have had to worn some serious heels and maybe even had to alter the bottom so that it would not drag (which I thought would compromise the look. My bridal party was with me that day.. and they actually said I looked shorter in the dress than in real life.

Try it on though... you never know what you are going to love and totally be over in seconds. My dress.. hated in pics. BUT on me totally in love!!

I will second this. I tried this dress on as well and I'm only 5'0. The dress made me look even shorter than I already am. I would have had to wear some very serious heels, which I couldn't do since I'm getting married on the beach.

The dress is absolutely gorgeous in person. I think it just takes a little bit of height to pull it off. They say most dresses are made for someone 5'8. I don't think you need to be that tall...but taller than me or able to wear some serious heels

I swear to you I just saw that dress on Ebay a few days ago. I STALK Ebay like I'm getting paid to do it, and I have come across that one a few times now, the last one being maybe Wed/Thur?

If you decide you are interested in it, I'd definitely start checking for it second hand. You may even be able to get two dresses that way (if thats something you think you might be interested in). It IS really pretty, and the sparkle will be out of this world in the sun/photos. It's actually the bridal match to my bridesmaids dresses http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collecti...7e21ebd65&pg=0

frown.gif This is exactly what I was afraid of... I'm a shorty too! Only 5'2 also. The last thing I want to do is look frumpy on my wedding day! LOL...

I will try on the dress though, just in case. Thanks for your input ladies.

I tried it on too, and wasn't wild about it. They have an all-lace dress with a drop hem (lower in the back) that was much nicer. This one felt a little bit cheap or something - the portion of the skirt that isn't covered in lace was just so-so.

And, yeah... the height thing....

That was one of the first dresses I tried on - I absolutely loved it in the photo and the lace is gorgeous .... BUT, I'm 5'2" and it hit me at exactly the wrong spots. sad.gif I looked like I was wearing a dress that was cut wrong ... like it should have been a proper, long dress, but it shrunk on me. Not so flattering!!

But maybe if you're short AND tiny (i.e. fairly skinny/really petite) it would work. I've got me some hips and boobs so I just looked a bit too squat for my liking.
