I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, it is very sad and make us think of what is really important: having our loved ones close to us in that special day of the wedding. I've been losing myself in all the tiny details, and suddendly my only sister has an hernia (nothing serious but she is quite scared of surgery) and that gets me thinking on what really matters.

If you need to get to town to buy things, there is a big commercial center/supermarket (I would say a Dominican version of Target maybe) called Jumbo - this place is at La Romana (website for address and hours: http://www.jumbo.com.do/jumbo_romana.aspx ) might be easier to just go there and see what they have, instead of going to smaller shops that could take more time and maybe have less quantities. I think I might rent a car and pay a visit to Jumbo (might be 30 min drive from the hotel) to find small things for my survival kit and welcome bags.

You'll see that everything will turn out just great for you, with all the unforgettable happy memories that we all wish :)

Thanks for the tips! These things definitely put a whole new perspective on the wedding. We are more focused on the attendees and the experience itself, than on the decorations and such. Starting to get really excited about actually being on the beach. It is going to be fantastic and just what everyone needs!

Vancouverbride: double charge for the stereo?! Insane! Definitely bringing our ipod and mini speakers. Going to test them against the traffic to mimic the waves and see how much can be heard. I was under the impression that the microphone the bride, groom, and officient use is included. If we have to pay to rent the speakers for the reception anyway, I think we are going to get the DJ, because he comes with speakers and can handle an ipod. =p Have our speakers play through supper maybe. Awesome that your travel agent is also a planner. Ours is just the TA, so we have been doing all of the arrangements ourselves.

I have a question for anyone who knows... What is the transportation situation to and from the airport? I know they recently opened up a highway connecting Punta Cana and La Romana which cuts the commute to 30-45 mins. http://casadecampoliving.com/2012/08/autopista-del-coral-la-romana-punta-cana-highway-inaugurated-and-opened/ Does the resort have a shuttle? Would we have to arrange it? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance for your help!!

The resort doesnt have a shuttle but there is a transfer company that they work closely with - it is an extra cost per person. Do you have a travel agent that is working with the resort? My TA set up the cost of the transfers in our guests pricing for the resort.

your set up is going to be so beautiful! love it!

we've decided to do the beach gazebo for the ceremony, pier for the cocktail hour, and seaside grill for the reception.  ended up not having that many guests book...which I'm kind of ok about! hehe

i am so behind though. i haven't decided on anything as far as decor, ceremony, flowers etc. Work has been killing me! but gotta get on it, since it's 7 weeks away (I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT!)

trying to maintain my sanity in the midst of 2 huge shows that i'm working on....and the wedding falls right between them. BIG SIGH!!! pray for me!

what are you doing for hair/make up? originally i was going to fly both my hair and make up team down,  but I've been rethinking it. still need to make a decision asap.

Hi everyone - I'm new here! In the very early stages of planning our wedding for Dreams La Romana for Saturday, March 9. Your comments have been very helpful - thank you all for sharing your experiences! Right now, it helps to know that the waiting for responses, etc. is very common and I shouldn't worry. It's frustrating when they answer only part of the question!

So, it looks like some of you have gotten married right on the beach. This has been our dream since we first started talking about a destination wedding. Barefoot on the beach, just before sunset. Jenny & Yanna have slightly different answers, but both seem to be saying that getting married on the beach is not possible. I don't really want to be in the gazebo - just on the beach with the beautiful ocean & sky behind us. So, for those of you that did, did it take a lot of convincing and they finally gave in, or ??? Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

We are getting married at DLR Oct 29th :) We are getting married in the private beach gazebo next to the jungle restaurant. There is a small square wooden platform in the sand and a rocky beach behind us. It is a rocky beach, not smooth sand going into the water, but it's completely private and you can see the ocean behind you. If you get married on the public beach I think they can section off an area for your wedding, but you will have to use crowd control to keep other guests from being in the background of you pictures. I've also seen some beautiful pics of weddings on the Seaside grille pier as another option? They can do the reception on the public beach so I don't see why they can't do the ceremony???

Actually now that I look at it, the chairs and guests are behind you (furthest away) and you are standing at the rocky beach looking in.....yes that's right! :)
