Hi

@Jonesy2012 We are getting married at DLR on Oct 29 2012--when is your wedding? Our wedding planner here in Vancouver has been keeping track of our overall budget, but the quotes she got from us for the resorts took about a week to get and were valid for about 2-3 weeks. We are below our target budget of under $2,000 per guest for a week's stay.

Hey Soccer1615,

No I didn't.  The prices were just too much for me because I was going to need another 3 bouquets and a bunch of coursages and boutonnieres.  I got my flowers and cake from places in Santo Domingo and we hired a taxi service to bring everything to the hotel the day of the wedding.....my husband is Dominican which helped a lot.  We didn't want to outsource our cake but the hotel was unable to make a cake for 60 people for some unknown reason...we went back and forth with this for almost a month! (because it just doesn't make any sense!)  We finally just got fed up and outsourced a cake and it was SOOOOO delicious....best item on our menu for sure.

The flower prices are what I was afraid of.  I wanted to have roses as centerpieces but I'd need a dozen each center piece which would be 6 dozen.  I'm figuring that probably is a fortune.  I was trying to figure out if there was a florist or place we could get them cheaper.  We only know the basic spanish so that doesn't help either.  Thanks for the info!! Gotta figure out what to do.

Searching for advice on our wedding reception resturant??!

We are getting married at DLR at the private beach gazebo, and cocktail hour at the Sea side grill pier/deck. We are choosing our wedding reception for about 40 people resturant now and are having a difficult time narrowing it down. We aren't having a DJ or dance floor, but are going out to one of the clubs after dinner so dance space doesn't matter.

Our options are outdoor, outdoor/partially covered, and airconditioned indoors.

We are worried that our guests will be hot and tired after an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, but at the same time we want to enjoy the ocean view and sunset. Outdoor resturants are also "easier" to decorate. A significant portion of our guests are 50+ years and need to be comfortable and able to hear.

Any advice from other brides, especially those that have had weddings at DLR in the past would be helpful! Thanks!

Hi Ladies,

I got married at Dreams in June of 2011. The resort is truly amazing!! It rained most of the time that we were there and rained on my day, so I was really bummed since it put a huge damper on my plans. However, the wedding coordinators and the rest of the staff worked wonders and it turned out wonderful!! The resort could not do enough for you! Pablo Picasso was awesome!! If you guys want to see pictures from my wedding you can check out my fb page. http://www.facebook.com/KrystalKelley12

The grounds at the resort are truly spectacular! With the flamingos and all the different restaurants and theme nights! We had about 40 people attend our wedding from the United States and Canada. I was concerned about hair and makeup so I got an outside woman from La Vega to come and do my hair and makeup! She did a great job!
