Hey Soccer 1615!  Yes, we are using the Dreams Honeymoon Registry!!  Some friends of ours used it and we bought them a gift which is how we found out about Dreams weddings and the honeymoon registry!   We bought them the zipline/canopy tour in Puerto Vallarta.  They had a blast and loved that they got to do that fun thing instead of getting a toaster. Our friends were really happy with it -- and we thought it was cool that they weren't just "getting cash". Then, when they got back, we got a thank you note with a picture of them ziplining!

 

Anyway, you should know that the money is actually sent to the resort for all the goodies (spa treatments, romantic dinners on the beach, etc) and put into your account there.  You then can just do those things, charge it to your room and then it's deducted from your resort credit.  (I've also called the customer service # (877 699 5884) to understand exactly how it works!)  You can choose to reserve the stuff in advance -- IF you want.  Otherwise, you can just wait until you get there and then reserve and do the things.  We've decided not to pre-reserve anything and just see how we feel when we get there.... do we just want more mai tais and hang on the beach?  How's the weather? -- and all that!  

 

I highly recommend it - our friends and family love the idea too.  They know we have all of our "stuff" for the house and that Tom and I are super active, adventurous people!

Hello Ladies!

 

I'm finally getting on here after many months of poking around :) My FI and I are hoping to get married at DLR in April 2013! We have just started designing our STD's and contacted a few travel agents to start pricing and getting the ball rolling.

 

I am wondering if any 2012/13 brides can provide some insight into the extra fees associated with coctail hour/dinner reception for groups over 20 people. I am pretty sure we are going to have closer to 35 and I'm trying to budget how much extra it is going to cost us for the additional people.

 

I'm trying to decide if it's more cost effective to pay the extra per person charges....or perhaps just get a reservation for the guests at an A La Carte restaurant (which would be free).......and then pay for speakers/bonfire on beach/drinks per person and have a reception that way before going to the disco at 11, or whatever time it opens.

 

Any help or tips anyone can provide me as far as detailed pricing goes would be super appreciated!

Hi Everyone!  I know it's been awhile but I wanted to let you know that I had the most wonderful wedding and that Jenny was very easy to work with and really did accomodate our needs for our wedding day.  I should have the pics from the photographer sometime within the next 2 weeks and will post some for you.  We got married at the gazebo and had the reception in the Italian a la carte restaurant which was a perfect venue for us (we had the entire restaurant to ourselves like a mini banquet hall).  We had 52 people in total at our wedding and it was fantastic. 

Good luck to all the brides still planning and believe me - you may be stressed now but once you have your first meeting in person with your wedding planner, you will feel totally at ease.

Congrats again Sabrina, I'm glad that everything worked out well.  Don't you just love Jenny!!! I said I would have another wedding just to work with her again.  I love her "Don't worry attitude", she made everything just perfect and accommodated us to the tee.  Even watched my 18 month old daughter so we could continue to party.  She was the best!

Menu us$ 30.00 + 26% each

Cocktail US$ 8.00+ 26% each

Open bar US$ 10.00 + 26% each

 

Dreams Ultimate (Gold menu):

Menu us$ 35.00 + 26% each

Cocktail US$ 10.00 + 26% each

Open Bar US$ 10.00 + 26% each

 

Guess who not staying at the hotel should pay US$ 20.00 (per person) in additional to the prices for the menu selected.

The couple should make a selection from the menu: 1 entrance, 1 soup, 2 main courses and 1 dessert, then all your guess will received the set menu on the table and select one of the main courses.

Just an FYI - the resaurants don't take reservations, and anything over 10 people is considered an 'event' and they will charge you the same for it (per person fee $20 - $25 plus the open bar $5 or $10/pp plus 26% for tax and service).  You are much better off just paying the per person and having your wedding exactly where you want it.  They do this exactly for this reason - so people can't get around paying for the wedding or event dinner.

There are TONS of pricing options, & if you would like to send me your email address I'll be happy to forward you all the info I have from the resor.  We're having a huge wedding this coming November so we're doing a buffet, and there are a bunch of buffet options if you have over 35 people I believe.  Also, theres a great cocktail hour menu options, and sit down menu options.  The silver and gold menu options are very basic compared to what they offer.

 

Also I would double check, but I think in addition to the extra $20/pp, people not staying at the resort have to pay for a pass for the day (I think its like $80/pp or something like that.) I could be wrong but I'm almost positive I read that somewhere.  Not sure bc all of our guests are staying at the resort, but I would look into it.
