Dreams La Romana

MissCC,

I am not sure of the minimum number of people required to reserve a restaurant, but I would think it is on the order of 20 to 30 (something I need to reconfirm with the wedding coordinator).  With your party size, though, they won't be able to do a sit down dinner as they mandate that you have a buffet for a party larger than 60, though it might be negotiable because I know some brides had 70+ guests and they still had a sit-down dinner.  I am not sure whether they can set up a buffet at any of the restaurants - this is something you can follow up on with the hotel directly.  I know for sure their ballrooms are large enough to accommodate such a large party.  I don't have any pictures of the ballrooms, but when I went there in June, I was very pleasantly surprised by the ballrooms' appearance - everthing is brand new, modern design, I totally loved it.

I did an extensive research in Punta Cana even did a site visit and picked out a location of where we wanted to do our DW at but its been a month since I have heard anything from anyone confirming time, DJ, photographer etc. Which led me to explore other parts of DR <La Romana> My biggest concern are the flight situations. We are having a rather large DW of about 85-100 people. Have any of you heard of the max. # you would need to have the whole restaurant to yourselves? Or if if any of you wonderful brides/brides-to-be have pics of indoor ceremony that would be a blessing.

I have just starting looking into Dreams La Romana but I am definitely appreciating the quicker responses I get from Jenny. So far this forum has been so helpful so i thank you all for your posts. Any advice would be extremelyyyy appreciated.

Congrats to you all!!

Hey ladies!! Just did our site visit and we were SOO happy with the resort! Its beautiful! The staff is amazing, and Jenny is completely fantastic! We also saw the ballrooms, having about 200 people at our wedding and a band so having it inside...they are beautiful!!

The vendors that I was worried about are so polite and as soon as you say no thank you leave you alone. And there aren't that many around anyway!

Here are some pictures of the resort for those of you who can't make a site visit - its even prettier than the pictures on the website show!!

You looked stunning! The girls look fabulous. Where did you get your bouquets? Very original :)

hey ladies..

Just letting you all know that I cant post my review on this thread!! it was removed by the people who run it as they want reviews doing on a seperate thread now.

Its on

If any of you want to look at it, but beware it is VERY long. But there are some photos on it and lots of info re the hotel itself.

You can also find photos in my album and if yu log onto HDC Punta Cana, my log in is jonathanandvictoria and the password is dreams.

Good luck everyone with your planning, yu can still contact me if you want any help or advice but I am really busy at the moment so may take a few days to get back to you.

Just wanted to say to you all to honestly not worry about things that seem to be a issue on here recently like vendors etc. firstly we were rarely bothered by anyone. as a group of 24 we were approached once maybe twice and they are extremely friendly and courteous when they come over. there is NO hassling what so ever and if anyone has ever felt hassled by them then i think this is either a one off or its a case of these people must be intimidated quite easily!!

We found the staff here the most friendliest and polite of any hotels in any countries that we have ever stayed at. they go over and above to ensure you have a good holiday, whether it be action packed or quiet and peaceful.

I must reiterate to have a plan b should the weather fail or a change of circumstances arises. as for the SSG, the food is great, but ladies ithe decking area is not that great if yu want to remain bite free!!

Try not to get to ate up about the location of your reception as once you get there, you will find there is plenty of places to choose from. I was 100% that i wanted an outdoor area, but I honestly would change all of that if I knew what i know now.

Godd luck girls, and like I say, mail me if you want any further help or just a shoulder to cry on.

Hi Kaos2013,

There are no restrictions for having children in the preferred section.  If you wanted children to stay in the room with you, you should go for a suite that has a living area with sleepers.  Alternatively, you could get adjoining rooms.  With such as small party size as yours I would think you should definitely go for a free package since the other packages are good for 10 or 20 guests.  You can only qualify for a free packages if you book 5 or more rooms for 3 or more nights each so you need to take that into account.  The good news is that if you party size is less than 12, they may be able to accommodate you in any of the a la carte restaurants at a separate table, but you wouldn't not be dining privately.  Also, they have a private dining room which they call "wine cellar" located in between Portofino and Le Bordeaux and it can sit 12 people to a private dinner.  If you wanted to order a special menu, talk to the wedding coordinator - they offer various menus for special occasions starting at $35PP and up to $65, which would include lobster etc.  If you are looking for a cocktail hour plus private party menu, the lowest cost per person including hors d'ouvres at the cocktail hour, bar service, private dinner with special menu and serivce charge adds to roughly $70 per person.

Hope this helps.

I'm so happy for all past and upcoming brides who have chosen their destination wedding at dreams la romana.

We have also decided to take the plunge but cannot book are desired dates until September when the new brochures are out for 2013 a long time off i know but gives us lots of time to plan.

I wonder if anybody can answer some initial questions regarding rooms. Already parents to 2 children who will be 7 and 5 when we travel i have some concerns over sleeping arrangements of course this will be a family holiday/wedding i want my children with us (although some privacy may be needed on occasion ha!)  are children allowed in the partial sea view rooms/preferred??

Another query is if we are allocated a king size bed where do the children sleep? do they have room in the lounge area for pullouts?

I was thinking of booking the partial sea view room/preferred to qualify for the complimentary wedding due to numbers really and adding our specifics for cocktail hour and reception.  Does anyone have any prices or ideas on if this works out better.  As my FI is extravagant and want to have the best meal entertainment etc i thought this was an easier option due to our small numbers.  Any advice would be greatfully appreciative.

We are hoping to travel with family (although some are already say they cannot afford it  sad.gif) we have decided to book our dream wedding and know that some close friends will be coming too so probably around 8 adults.

I'm sorry if this sounds a little prompt especially for all upcoming brides but i like to be organised initially as i will be a stress head otherwise lol!

Thanks in advance

Hi Katie,

This has been of great help. The two tour operators in the UK differ in whom is allowed in the rooms so its nice to hear that at least if we book the ocean view room we can upgrade once there if it does not suit us.  The information on the extras is great and my FI said id previously mentioned lobster somewhere but i couldnt recall where id read it.  He is a little extravegant so even thought numbers may not hit the 20's he still wants lots of goodies and extras like fireworks etc.  So he will be happy about this food option.  The brochures in the UK say you are entightled to the free wedding if you book an ocean view room or higher for at least 7 nights so im hoping that this is the case rather than room numbers you suggested.  Although friends and family are expected i think many will choose to book later hoping for a better deall.  So i will be booking with around 10 people on the premis of the free wedding option ive just discussed.  Hope im right.

Im happy that the children can be accomodated and youve given us lots of other options to discuss.

Thank you so much

Carla

No problem.  The only thing I would suggest is that the fireworks are probably not worth it.  I was thinking about doing them as well but then when I saw what you get for $600, it's just meager 1.5 minutes.  A total waste of money.  As with the 7-day booking, I believe you only need one room to qualify for the free package but it has to be a certain category - they talk about it on Dreams La Romana hotel web site.

I had to wait for mine for about 2 weeks.  After 3 days, I got impatient, but they took their time getting back to me.  Typically, if you requested date is far out, they take longer to get back to you but they will, eventually.

I waited a week. First thing monday morning I called and spoke to her. She told me it was a pretty hectic week with big weddings. Im so glad i spke to her and she told me " just relax we have your date confirmed and it will be beautiful!". One word of advise if you are trying to reach them do so before 11 after that they are running around prepping for weddings.
