Dreams La Romana

Recommended Posts

I don't know about the speaker thing...I have heard from a few who have done the symbolic ceremony and they have said that they make it look very official and even have a "marriage certificate" that you sign with your witnesses.  They also pronounce you husband and wife and all that jazz so that everything about it is a real wedding ceremony except for the legalities part of it.  We are doing the symbolic and just doing the legal stuff the week before we head out!  We will be there July 16-24 - are you there in July too?  When will you be there?

I know this has been discussed numerous times on here, but I just wanted to get some advice from anyone who has had a symbolic ceremony.

After speaking to several of you one here, we are strongly considering getting married (or as we like to think of it, doing the legalities), the day before we jet of to La Romana, then having the wedding as planned in Dreams. The only worry is that we really don't want it to appear to a renewal of vows/symbolic ceremony to our guests who have forked out a fortune to be with us!

Has anyone done this already?

Also, I have been advised by Dreams that there is a company who hire out large speakers so that an i pod dock can be plugged in and played a bit louder. I'm waiting for the contact details but if anyone else knows of this please let me know.

KCB2011, when are you there in July?xxxx

From what I know, the speakers or the DJ come out to the same thing 250$... so we opted with the DJ, what difference with it make?? Others have invested in Bose systems or rented out a speaker for the week. (someone did from Toronto for 20 bucks or something) but I have yet to find a place near me.

Also i'm having a symbollic, and everyone will think i'm getting married there. Just voice your concern and i'm sure it will all be ok.

Hey peeps..

KCB2011, we are there from the 23rd of june until the 7th of july so I will just miss you. I promise to get my review on here as soon as we get back so you can see what it was like.

We have a bose system, so gonna just take that I guess. Not sure about the dj after what I've read, but gonna see for ourselves when we get out there. There are soo many mixed reviews on things that it makes my head spin. I guess we will all just go with the flow and probably laugh at all of these months (years!!) we have spent planning/panicking/organising!!

The main thing is it is BEAUTIFUL there and any little glitches will certainly go unnoticed against the backdrop to such a wonderful location.

So, DCAIRNS, are you all set? Are you in a state of panic yet or is it just a fuzzy daze of happiness.xxx

Thanks amurka! The legal ceremony was pretty quick but still sweet and everything went smoothly. I thought I would be nervous but turned out that both of us were pretty relaxed, as we only had 2 wittiness's with us,

it is a nice practice for whats to come at our "REAL" wedding in Dominican, I'm sure I will be very nervous over there. lol

YAY were legally married now we can't wait for our Ceremony at Dreams! love.gif

OHHH some days i'm losing my mind, others i'm calm. I'm nervous, but an excited nervous... I have lots of little things to do for the wedding that i've been putting off. I want to make my own cake topper. I was making my own decorations for the cake but I found these delicious chocolate shells and such so I bought I couple of boxes of them. My OOT bags are coming along.

I guess i'm like every other bride. 50 days till we are officially on a plane, and 56 till i'm married... its like after months of slow planning everything now is on fast forward. lol... but i'm enjoying it at least. My surprise Bridal shower is this weekend (at least they all think i'm gong to be surprised). So that should be fun lol..

Here's wishing everyone Happy Planning!

Hi Everyone!!

I have recently booked and secured my wedding date for Jan 20, 2012, I know it seems like forever away but i dont feel like it is!! ahhh

I'm wondering what wedding package to secure as of now.. i have 26 guests booked already... and i want my reception at the sea side grill private party and after party dance etc...

does anyone know what the cost is to rent the SSG for a private party ??

if you take the free wedding package.. does anyone know what it costs per head in addition?

in terms of chair rentals etc.. you can rent these for 8$ a chair i see.. so I'm assuming none are included..:S

has anyone been there that has used the decor? if so.. is it in good shape or would you recommend bringing my own? IE: Chair sashes..

thanks everyone!!! this forum is a life saver to me!!
