December 2009 Brides!

Recommended Posts

So my TA just called me and informed me that two of our departure cities (calgary and edmonton) are now departing on christmas eve instead of christmas day!! While the rest of the departure cities (winnipeg, vancouver, saskatoon, regina, toronto) are still leaving on the 25th. Im so frustrated, I didnt know they could do this!! Everyone was so pumped to get christmas and new years eve down there and now we have to tell everyone from those two cities they are going thurs-thurs instead of fri-fri like the rest of the group.. what a bummer, I hope it doenst affect anyone b/c everyone has had this time booked off/switched shifts with other people, for over a year now! sad.gif

yah the vacation group we are going with -signature vacations. They just came out with their winter rates on their website and I guess decided to change the departure dates from what they had told us last august. Nothing we can do,but its hard not to vent ya know?

I LOOOVED Paris and would love to go back, great choice!! Im glad to hear you guys are doing the two weeks at the same resort too. I really want to 'jump across' the ocean to greece after the wedding in halifax (cheaper to fly from there than from calgary) for our honeymoon. Just trying to convince FI wink.gif
Unfortunately we don't know anyone else doing a destination wedding :-( I would LOVE an excuse to travel :) Greece is wonderful----but a secret wonderland is Cyprus---cheap airfare from Greece---and beautiful! I loved it there. It is a big hit with the British. Still debating our honeymoon though---I would love to go somewhere on our anniversary of when we started dating (first kiss actually) on March 7th---lets hope I can make it happen!

That is crazy!!! I wonder if there are any options around this--is there no negotiation room? Ugh That seems so unfair!

I think June or July but not sure?? I have never really been out in eastern canada (except for vball nationals one year in newfoundland) so we are pretty excited! We only hear great things :)

As for the change of dates, nothing we can do sad.gif Still bummed about that, but if I must think positively, at least we will be there the day before 80% of guests now so we can hand out the welcome bags to everyone ourselves -my parents were going to do it as they are going down the week before. Just wish everyone could still be there for new years eve as planned, instead of them now spending it on a plane.

out of curiousity, were the signature vacation rates higher/lower than what you were quoted? we are booking with Transat and they still don't have their winter rates available... I am super anxious to know if the rates are cheaper/more expensive....

hahahaha Jillian! What the hecK?? Do you already know which other one you want or you just decided you didnt like any of the three you already had? I guess thats the good/bad thing about our weddings being 7 mths away still, lots of time to change our minds!

bcbride- we got our rates last august and all our guests put down $200 to lock in their price. The winter rates just came out on signature and they are in b/w $300-$400 MORE than what we paid(depending on departure city). Super happy we booked when we did. I have heard it has gone other ways though too. The good thing about signature (and maybe transat is the same) is they give you a one time price change, so if the prices do go down from when you initially booked, you get that new lower price. But you can only change it once, make sense?
