Custom Linen Suits $99!

Recommended Posts

To start, I ordered the pre-set sizes.... I received my fiance's suit Friday along with the groomsmen and fathers pants.  We ordered a 34R pant for my fiance which is a size larger since they didn't offer his size in the pre-sets.  He just got measured for his brother's wedding the week I ordered them, so I was sure of his size... He tried on the suit and it was tight!!  Not so much the waist (which should have been loose since it's an extra inch!), but rather so the thighs!  He's planning on losing weight for the wedding as it is, so I'm sure it will be fine (though will thighs shrink?!), but what about the other pants I ordered?!?!?  I haven't actually measured the pants yet, to verify they were made correctly, but I'm so scared!!  His dad and brother will be trying on theirs tonight... I'm so nervous!!  Everyone keeps saying that it was a good thing I ordered them early, so we can return/exchange... I don't have the guts to tell them we can't!  AHHHH!

i had a similar problem.  we ordered a 32R for my FI and at first thought it was okay. I thought it looked too tight, but he said it was fine.  then when he tried them on in front of my sister she said the same thing.  we got a preset size in the same size he buys for all his pants.  so luckily we decided to order a suit for my brother in law who is a groomman.  He fit perfectly in the 32R and so i ordered 34R for my FI.

I ordered my FI & groomsmen attire from www.cubavera.com. They have a really nice selection - even their sale items (some shirts $14.99) are very nice. If you sign up on their website with your email address, they immediatly send you a coupon code for 30% off your total order.  I put my order in last Thursday, got free shipping (orders over $50) and they arrived on Saturday - It was a box about 4 feet tall, 3 feet wide, and 4 inches of inside width - everything came on hangers, and in plastic garmet bags! We were both so impressed! And the quality of their stuff is exceptional and the prices are not bad at all! The groomsmen, their shirts came to $17.99 each, then we got them all linen pants at Old Navy (they are just now in stock! $32.99, many sizes!) This is the suit my FI is going to wear - it is linen, fully lined, and oh so sharp!

I just wanted to post a review of this company.  We ordered 5 groomsmen pants and two pairs for our dads. Everyone ordered theirs separately.  We did have everyone add an inch to the waist and thighs, and inseam, based on suggestions from this thread. We ordered comfort fit in english beige.

We asked to have the pants delivered by March 22.  Most of the guys have received their pants and they are great! No problems and fast delivery.

However, my father had problems with his measurements. He measured his "true waist" almost 10 inches larger than the pants he normally wears. Now I know that the site says that the measurement will differ from regular pant size, but it was such a huge difference we were worried.  We were scared he would look like he had clown pants on and they would be too big to even take in.  Between my father and myself, we sent at least 6 emails.  We never received response, so we kept trying. Finally, yesterday, they responded to my email saying they had been emailing multiple times to us and never received responses. I don't know if I believe them, only because we emailed them from 2 different email addresses and still did not receive an answer. Plus, that response was to my email address, which was not the email address given when the order was placed (it was my dad's). When we got their email, they asked about other measurements, but did not even answer the waist question.  I answered their questions and reminded them that they did not even reply to our only question.

Well they responded today that true waist measurement will differ from pant size and it varies brand to brand. Well no kidding! We just were worried that it was such a huge difference. They also informed us the pants would not be here by March 22. I wish they said when they could get them to us.  If he gets them by April 1, he will have like 2 days to get them hemmed or whatever, which could work.  They did say they will refund us. So we are waiting to see if they can expedite by April 1.

It just really stinks because now every guy, including the groom's dad, will have matching pants. We will now have to find my dad something -  not what I want to worry about 2 weeks before!!

So, if you have no questions about anything, you will be fine. But if problems arise you might be SOL.  I would say that maybe give yourself a ton of extra time, but I am not sure this would have helped us since we could not even get a hold of them!

Hey everyone!  I noticed that some people have had experiences with these suits being too tight (especially in the thighs) and that you can't return them.  Well, we decided not to use this company after my custom dress experience.  I measured myself several times and they made me two dresses from the same measurements and both fit different.  I think there is a language barrier or something with the metrics conversion when you go overseas.  So I tried Islandimporter.com and they were great.  The day after I sent them the measurements, they called with some questions.  They felt that most of the measurements were great, but thought that some didn't seem to be in proportion with others.  They asked me to take some other measurements over the phone and consulted and advised me their suggestions.  I'm so glad because the suit came in yesterday and was perfect!   Well, I should say the Jacket was.  The pants were a little big.  We measured him as a 36 inch waist.  (they also ask for the standard pant size, which is also a 36).  I measured them to be 38.  When I called him, he said most all pants are 2 inches bigger than their size, even though I said that all his 36 pants fit snug.  He understood and had no problem sending us new pants (even though they are custom!).  So he is going to send us a 34 sample pant for us to try, if it works, then he will also send us a shipping label to send the pants pant and he will make us new pants!  So if you guys are looking for something you are not stuck with, try Island Importer.  It is a little more expensive, but it is actual linen.  The $99 suits from the company you are talking about aren't actual linen (but I think there is a pure Irish linen option at that company, but it's more, like $175... I still think Island Importer is more.. $280).  Hope this helps some of you.  I think they get their materials overseas, but they actually make them here in the states, which makes returning easier.  Also, there's a 365 day return policy on anything not custom.

An update on my order... we ordered the pre-set sizes and they came in tight in thighs and waist.  Good news is that they do leave plenty of material to let out.  Will update again once I see how they turn out after alterations.

BTW, we went to Men's Warehouse to get an estimate on alterations.  Wanted to go there first since I figured they do that day in and out, all men stuff. LOL  Anyway, since we didn't buy the suit there is was going to cost $25 to shorten the sleeves on his coat, $14 to hem the pants, and another $25 to let out the pants.  I must be missing something, cuz it was going to cost $72 total for alterations!  Luckily, our friends' mom is a seamstress and pretty sure we can trust her handywork.  Fingers crossed!  I'm pretty sure we will get a better deal through her.  Anyway, just saying it actuallly does cost a lot to get the pants altered!
