is this rude of fi or is it me?

LMAO! You guys are funny and I agree, you wan't something else your on your own, especially kids. We actually didn't like the fish I cooked last night and I was fine with just eating the sides I made. FI had no problem making him some shrimp to go with his sides but he doesn't mind cooking sometimes either so that would never be an issue.

I had this problem with my FI too. I just let him know that this is not Applebee's as nicely as possible. You do not put in an order. Nowadays I usually make whatever and he doesn't know what it is until he can figure it out from the smell or until it's sitting in front of him. He got that way because of his mother too. She would make 3 diff meals, one for the kids, one for her, and one for hubby. I was like "WTF mate?!" I'd never do that.

I'd stay away from the bitchy/complaining way of bringing it up though. :)

lol, dh would never do that. if i'm making something, he's eating it. i would never expect him to do that for me.

now when i say that i'd like to have something for dinner and we haven't talked about it at all, that's when he decides he's in the mood for something completely different. (pot roast and spaghetti wink.gif )

I think my FI would be to flabergasted I'm cooking to complane hahaha

But if he did I would be like well cook what you want I'll be out when you get home hehe

But I'm sure its something you two can clear up in a second or so :)

Though I like Kate's idea too "I thought you where jokeing" clasic :)

I would definitely not make two meals! My FI's mom used to always cook him separate versions of dinner without ingredients he doesn't like, and I won't even do that! Turns out he doesn't actually still hate a lot of ingredients he hated as a child :P

All that being said, I will frequently give my FI a couple of options. I often can't decide what to make, so I'll say something like "we have chicken to use...should I make nabeyaki or parmesan garlic chicken?" I think he gets secretly annoyed with me asking him all the time, so when I DO just go ahead and make whatever he wants, he's actually happy.

I also find that since my FI can't cook AT ALL he has no concept of what is quick to make, and what is a lot of work, so he sometimes says things that seem crazy or unreasonable, but it's just b/c he doesn't get how it all works!

I am one of the lucky ones on here, my FI cooks every night for us and I fully plan to continue to let him! But.... I would never dream of asking him to make something else! If I want something different I say so and that I will gladly make it but then he usually offers to make it for me. I would never be so rude as to tell him to make me something different!

So how did it go? Did he fall to his knees and apologize? lol
