Photographer Needed for Negril...Approx Cost?

Hi Ladies!

I am have my wedding at a small resort outside of Negril. They offer photography for the wedding, but it is just someone random who works at the resort. I am interesting in bringing in my own photographer. I have seen so many beautiful pictures by local photographers and was wondering what I should expect to pay for various packages. Nobody seems to have pricing on their websites.

Can you guys tell me what you have found as far as pricing for local photographers? I did a search here, but all I found was comments about how expensive various people were (no actual price).

Also, for those of you having a reception, did you book the photographer to stay for the entire time, or just a couple of hours? One last question...for those of you that have done, or will be doing a TTD session, was that included in your package?

Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions!

Hi Karla- I did alot of research when it came to photographers. I am not using a videographer, so I really wanted someone to capture the mood in pictures. It depends on how many hours you want the photog, what pictures/albums you want etc. From the people I contacted-it ranged from $700 to $8,000. HUGE DIFFERence, right? The 3 ppl that I always got referred to were Sungold, Saab, and Stacy Clark. And I always heard great things about all of them. And all of them were so very prompt about getting back to me. I must have asked them a million and one questions!

Some of the photographers have packages with certain number of hours-and they would let you use 2 or so hours the day after for a TTD. HTH.

Hi Karla,

I think the packages will very depending on the photographer. For example some may charge 8-10K, while others may only charge slightly above cost of travel. The advantage of bringing your own photographer would be that you usually get more for your money. Most DW photographers will stay for 2-3 days so they are there for pre wedding activities, all day wedding coverage as well as a TTD session the day after.

With local photographers, you usually pay for packages. so it's usually a certain number of hours of coverage and such. I' am not familiar with the local photographer at your location, but that doesn't mean they won't give you great photos. Tt's really a personal choice.

Best of luck, and happy planning.

I'd suggest that you send the photographers an email that you are interested in.

i am using wpa associates which is an affiliate of sungold. for 10 hours i am paying $2200. it will be split over 2 days for a ttd shoot. i think sungold is a little more expensive. i would have still gone with them though, but they were already booked on my date, more than a year in advance.

Karla:

I am having a photographer from Jamaica named Brian Nejedly do my TTD session while at SOR. I got his name from a girl on this site. You can google him and he has an online price list and gallery. He's reasonably priced and takes great pics. Hope this helps you.

According to the Beaches web site, I'm unable to bring in my own photographer, and can only use their services?! Below is what their site says -

"Please note: Use of third party vendors for photography or other services that are offered by Beaches is strictly prohibited."

I'm worried about this. My gut tells me that their staff photographer isn't going to capture the artsy/creative type images that I'm looking for. So here are my questions - 1) Does anyone know how strictly Beaches enforces this rule? 2) Has anyone actually used the Beaches photographer and how did your pics come out?
