Invites (non-passport or boarding pass) are finally done and out!! Lots of Pics

Recommended Posts

So after finding some very lovely invitations online that were completely out of our budget, FI and I decided to tackle the task of DIY (well, I did...he kind of got suckered in to it but was mostly understanding about doing artsy stuff which he hates! haha). They took forever, mostly because of plenty trial and error (and we had 100 to do!), but I love how they turned out. Would I do it again? Maybe...haha. I see why the ones cost so much though, now that they're finished (I was quoted at $10/invitation with inserts)!! Some wording I'm pretty sure came from inspiration of girls on here, so if something looks familiar, THANK YOU!

Inspiration Invitations were from Olio Style:

HA! Those were my inspiration invitations too! And there was no way I was paying $10 a piece!

I so loved mine though, and yours too. Totally worth it to do yourself, and my guests really loved them. So I'm sure yours will too! :)

I didn't do the ribbon corners though. Too much work! Instead I did a slotted corner punch which fit the inserts perfectly and still gave it the same basic look.

those look great!

My DIY invites were modeled after Olio Style as well! I loved their stuff, just couldn't justify spending that much on the invites!

and doesn't it feel so much better now that you have saved money and completed them on your own?!

Thank you girls! To do the ribbon corners, we found the best thing to use was double-sided permanent scotch tape! We also tried ribbon glue (which you can find at Hobby Lobby) but that didn't hold too well with the corners (for the front ribbon it was amazing!). We cut little pieces of ribbon...about 2 inches I think it was, put tape on the back of the paper, set over the approximate mid-point of the ribbon and folded the ribbon over.

Tlseege, I agree, $10 is just crazy! I'm going to find yours now!! I like the idea of the slotted corner punch, great idea.

Yes, it feels great! I'm just so thankful FI was willing to help!! I couldn't have done it all without him! I enjoy DIY projects but this was the biggest I've tackled yet.
