Hey ladies ..just back from Riu Tropical Bay

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what the location looks like now. Did you happen to see where weddings can be held? We are planning on going to Jamaica this August for our DW and I would like to get married on/near the beach. We haven't chosen a resort yet.

What about the "night life" and other offered activities on the property? We are active and will go on a few excursions, but for those days we would like to just hang at the hotel, what did you notice?

Also, what type of crowd ?: I'm 34 and my FI is 28(not in spirit!) lol and we will have our parents, each a friend couple, and my 8 year old with us.

Last, is there a strong "time share" pitch going on there? We just came back from the Dominican Republic, and where we stayed they had one and i found it to be soooo annoying!

Any pics to share? Sorry about so many?'s but i'm very anxious to book something within the next week! Can you tell? Thank You!!!

It was renovated and I think it was completed last December ..so the rooms look nice .. I had a Jr Suite .which had the king bed, with sofa and table .. and then like a small round table with 2 chairs ... it had a Flat screen TV on the dresser with some cable channels .. ESPN, TNT, and some others ..

They had an arch on the beach at one of the further ends of the property .. it wasnt in a main traffic area so you did have some privacy ..in fact I saw a few wedding couples there during my stay ..

During the day .. they had water aerobics in the ocean, beach volleyball, ping pong .. one day there was a reggae band on the beach by the jerk hut and they had a table set up with rum punch ...... but for the most people everyone was around the pool on the beach or ventured out of the hotel ..

negril I think has the most nightlife ..so you will never be bored if you are up for it ..the hotel had nightly entertainment which had thick crowds .. one night it was a reggae band, one night the entertainment staff did what looked like a version of the lion king ..and another night it was a band doing pop hits lol ... after like 11pm ish though you kinda have make your own fun ......

I'll have to post some pics later .. i cant get them off my FB page right now @ work

Glad you had a good trip! Thanks for the review/ info. I can't wait to book our DW and soon! Then i will rest a bit easier. lol We are ordering our wedding bands this weekend from the jeweler.....sized and inscribed. I'm a teacher, so on my April vaca. from school i'll go dress shopping and we're almost done! It's just the whole DW thing is all contingent on one another, but once you initialy pick the place and the resort and book it to see what time are available, it can be done in within the hour. Can't wait!

Hello msmoodyr! Thanks for offering information! I was wondering if you have any pictures of their wedding gazebo that is NOT on the beach. I e-mailed RIU to get pictures of all their gazebos at all their Jamaica locations, but they only sent me the one in Ochos Rios!
