Any Jan 2009 brides still around???

Recommended Posts

I got to thinking its almost been two months since our wedding at ROR. Have any of you brides received your marriage certificate. If so, when did you get married and when did it arrivehuh.gif?

Who do you contact to find out where it is?? Chandlyn?

Any info on this would be appreciated.

Hi ladies. I am getting married at the ROR in Sept 09. My FI wants to have a civil ceremony in Indiana prior to our trip b/c he is concerned about all the hoops to jump through once we get there in order to have a legal ceremony. My TA tells me that she handles everything before we go. Will you share you experiences with the details once you arrived--did you have to have a session with the minister, did you have to do anything special other than finishing up a few details? I am a very laid back bride--I want to show up & go with the flow--and I want my actual ceremony to be in Jamaica. Thank you!

I thought it was very easy to get married in JA, no hoops to jump through at all. We didn't have to meet with the miinister at all. He showed up at 1:00 for our ceremony and left when it was over before we had a chance to talk to him if we would have wanted to.

The only thing you have to do is send notarized copies of birth certificates and driver licenses or passports about 30 days prior to your wedding. It was all very simple.

The only downfall is that it does take about 2 months to receive your marriage license, so if you plan on changing your name, you have to wait. I tried to change my name with the temporary license that was given to us that day, but was not aloud.

I am with Anna ..its pretty easy to get married in Jamaica. Just send your notorized paperwork and that's pretty much it. We even added some stuff to our ceremony and there was no problem.

I am still waiting for my marriage license (got married two months this past sunday). I have changed my name on some stuff but others requires the legal certificate with the seal on it - which puzzles me as others have said they could change their name without it.

Weather in january was so so .. we had a four day stretch there with some rain (we were there for two weeks mid to end of jan).

Hi,

I got married Feb 24, 2009. I used the marriage certificate we signed on the beach during the ceremony to change my name. No questions asked. I still have to change my passport and SIN, but otherwise everything is done. I actually didn't realize there was something else to come...an offical marriage document (hahahahaha). I am however still waiting for our professional pictures to come.

  • 1 month later...

I got married end of Jan. in Montego Bay. I still haven't received my marriage license. Have other Jamaica brides received theirs?

Also, I just noticed, on my take home copy, my age is wrong. I guess I gave my age to WC in September, but she didn't notice I had a birthday in December, and so it's now one year off on the license.
