Makes me wonder if she was wearing a ski helmet. A young girl from Toronto died a week or two ago from hitting a tree. She was wearing a helmet. So a helmet doesn't protect 100% although obviously it helps a lot. I wear one and I don't see why others don't. It's comfortable and keeps my head worm. Is it really simply because it's not fashionable? There are so many people wearing them now days (when I ski at Mont Tremblant I would say a good 30% or more of skiers/snowboarders are wearing them) that it's not like you stand out when you wear one.

That is sad. I wasn't a big fan or too familiar with her work, but I do know of her. I had no idea Joley Richardson was her sister.

I know she was conscious when the patrol came and went back to the lodge and complained of a headache an hour later, but was she concsious when she was taken to the hospital? I guess I'm wondering what exactly happened. Did she have a hemmorage? Do they say what exactly happened?

They are thinking she had a blood clot in her head from her fall and then because of the clot, blood vessels popped and caused immense pressure in her brain. Ya she was conscious and fine when she fell. The ski patrol did their best to make sure she was ok and she seemed totally fine so her ski instructor assisted her back to her hotel room to make sure she was ok and then she complained of a headache and she went to hospital to get it checked out.

This is sooo sad. Joe and I both love her and Liam. Who ever said helmets aren't fashionable doesn't know what they are talking about. anyone who boards or skiis regularly wears a helmet, including the pros. generally you base whats fashionable on the pros. I don't think she was wearing one. It's heart breaking. Just because you're on a beginner hill doesn't mean your safe. My heart goes out to Liam, her children and familly.

I heard on the news that she was not wearing a helmet and there was no way to "tell" if a helmet would have prevented this kind of injury.

She was concious and lucid after the fall and things got progressively worse from there and the bleeding in her brain worsened. Eventually causing her to slip into unconciousness.

As an avid skier, I have to say I have cracked 2 helmets in 10 years, all 3 have been due to human interference. Gettting hit by someones skis walking thru the village, getting hit with the Breck T bar. it just goes to show that you never know when it will protect you and you can never act as if it protects everything.
