What are your (inexpensive) beauty miracles?

I really like using aloe vera juice as a toner on my face and hydrocortosine ointment as a moisturizer. I have been using hydrocortosone(sp) cream on my face since high school. It keep inflamation, redness, ect at bay, I have very sensitive skin, so everything either stings, burns, or dries it out..

Agreed! Vaseline on the lips works wonders! I actually mix it with a little bit of some of my Mary Kay eyeshadow to make some pretty glosses too!

I started using BE about 4-5 years ago and I'll never go back. I tried using some of the cheaper brand Mineral Veil this year (trying to cut back in spending) and it just wasn't the same somehow. I never liked wearing foundation becauase I felt cakey, but not with BE!!

Another on the Vaseline. I have VERY dry skin and couldn't seem to find anything that keeps my hands from cracking and getting real painful. I've tried pretty much every "severely dry" lotion in pretty much every brand on the shelves. Lately I had been seeing the ads on TV about Vaseline having a OTC clinical therapy level lotion so picked it up this last weekend. WOW what a difference I am already seeing! And I don't even have to apply it as frequently as I had others.smile29.gif

I've been using the Maybelline version for about a year now and have always liked it but since I kept hearing good things about Bare Essentials I decided to give it a try. Well it didn't work out so well for me! I must have weird skin or something because it made me break out like crazy (and I've never had a reaction to make-up like that before). The salesgirl at Sephora gave me a weird look when I brought the Bare Essentials make-up back but I wasn't about to waste $80! I think that I'm just going to get my make-up at MAC for the wedding, it's higher end and it doesn't make my skin react!

If you have an Ulta near you, they also sell it.

I absolutely love using baby oil when I'm almost done in the shower. I squirt some on my arms, back and legs, then rinse off a bit. It's the best moisturizer I've ever found. In the summer after laying out or in the winter when the heat is on and your skin drys out. It's phenomenal!

I swear by Nivea lotion for my body and Aaveno ultra calming lotion as a moisturizer for my face. I also love the Aaveno positively ageless daily exfoliating cleanser. For my hair, my stylist introduced me to Moroccan oil, and my hair has never been shinier or more healthy.

Not to be annoying, but be careful about using hydrocortisone on the face - the kind you get at the drug store is a low strength (1%) but any steroid cream like hydrocortisone can lead to blotchy lighter-colored patches on your skin. I am a pediatrician so I see a lot of kids with eczema who use these creams a lot and ppl who over-use steroid creams get really blotchy areas esp if you are exposed to the sun - and this can be permanent. So just be careful..
