For all the catholic brides and brides to be....have you or will you be flying in your hometown priest to perform your ceremony?

I am beginning to consider this but would like some input from you gals. I am not sure what the process would be if I went that route.

Thanks!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

We were going to do this in Puerto Vallarta but we've had 3 Priests not be able to go because it is Thanksgiving weekend sad.gif ....at this point we are just going to use a Priest in Mexico because it doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money on a Priest we wouldn't really know...if you have a Priest you love and have the funds, I would do it.

Hi!

Yes, we are bringing our own priest down to Cancun. He is a family friend, so I really wanted him to perform the ceremony. When we were looking at churches, we ran into no issues with bringing in a priest -- there were no extra fees or anything like that. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether or not he would be authorized to perform the legal ceremony...my guess is no? We're having the legal ceremony in the US (and as of recently, our Catholic ceremony, too...long story...but we're still bringing our priest down to perform a symbolic wedding/offer a blessing).

In terms of costs...we're paying for his flight/hotel.

Hope this helps a little!
