Just the way things go sometimes, I guess, but I am way closer with my Step MOM than my dad, I love him loads, but he is just kinda quiet, and until the last 3 years we haven't been that close. I have been moaning and groaning to Doug over this father/daughter dance that I know everyone will expect us to do, but I'm not 100% comfortable with it. I was thinking maybe Doug and his daughter could dance with us at the same time, and I really like the idea of having my dad choose the song. I think it would be a good ice-breaker to the whole are we/aren't we conversation.

I do love Butterfly Kisses, and My Little Girl, but lately I have actually really liked the Miley Cyrus and her dad Billy Ray Cyrus song Get Ready, Get Set, Don't Go.

My dad really loves classical music. The one song we both love to play (and sing) over and over is "Time to say goodbye". We love to go for drives and just blast that song and sing our hearts out. While the lyrics aren't too appropriate for a wedding--cuz it's about saying goodbye-- it's our favorite song. I'm thinking of playing the Italian version to take the focus off of the lyrics.

Jamie Foxx has a song he wrote for his daughter called "Heaven". Its about how God wakes up one morning to realize he's missing an angel, and its because she was sent here to be his baby girl and how heaven will never be the same. Its beautiful. Would be very appropriate for a wedding if anyone wants to check it out. Here are the lyrics:

Tell me have you heard the story

That took place not long ago

About an angel up in heaven

They say she up and ran away from home

They say she had unfinished business

So back to earth she had to flee

And you know I'm so elated

Because she's standing right here right next to me

And when God woke up that morning

And He called out her name

And when she didn't answer

Heaven would never ever ever be the same

At times it seems we take for granted

How precious life can be

Open your heart and I'm sure you'll understand

Bringing into this world

A precious boy or a girl

And when God woke up that morning

And said, "Where did my little angel go?"

And when she didn't answer

Heaven will never ever ever be, heaven will never be the same.

We are doing Just The Way you Look Tonite... the lyrics are...

Some day, when I'm awfully low,

When the world is cold,

I will feel a glow just thinking of you...

And the way you look tonight.

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm

And your cheeks so soft,

There is nothing for me but to love you,

And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,

Tearing my fear apart...

And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,

It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely ... Never, ever change.

Keep that breathless charm.

Won't you please arrange it ?

'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.

Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,

Just the way you look to-night

for the mother son dance we're doing could not ask for more by sara evans, it could work either way though ...

Lyin here with you

Listenin to the rain

Smilin just to see

The smile upon your face

These are the moments

I thank God that Im alive

These are the moments

Ill remember all my life

Ive found all Ive waited for

And I could not ask for more

Lookin in your eyes

Seein all I need

Everything you are

Is everything to me

These are the moments

I know heaven must exist

These are the moments

I know all I need is this

Ive found all Ive waited for yeah

And I could not ask for more

I could not ask for more than this time together

Could not ask for more than this time with you

And every prayer has been answered

Every dream Ive hads come true yeah

Right here in this moment

Is right where Im meant to be

Here with you

Here with me (yeah)

These are the moments

I thank God that Im alive

These are the moments

Ill remember all my life

Ive found all Ive waited for yeah

And I could not ask for more.

I could not ask for more than this time together

Could not ask for more than this time with you

And every prayer has been answered

Every dream Ive hads come true (yeah)

Right here in this moment

Is right where Im meant to be (oh)

Here with you

Here with me

No, I could not ask for more

Than this love youve gave me

cause its all Ive waited for

And I could not ask for more

YouTube - I Loved Her First
All I have to say is this song is beautiful, the words make me cry. My sister and my dad danced to this song at her wedding this past Sept, he picked it out. Love it! I don't know if there's anything better!

Anyone use "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuch Wicks. I cant decide if it is appropriate or not. It brings me to tears...

came to see her daddy for sit down man to man

It wasn't any secret i'd be asking for her hand

I guess that's why he left me waiting in the living room by myself

with at least a dozen pictures of her sitting on a shelf

- Chorus -

She was playing Cinderella

She was riding her first bike

Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight

Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin

Dancing with her dad, looking up at him

In her eyes i'm Prince Charming

But to him i'm just some fella

riding in and stealing Cinderella

I leaned in towards those pictures to get a better look at one

When I heard a voice behind me say "Now, ain't she something, son?"

I said "Yes, she quite a woman"

and he just stared at me

Then I realized that in his eyes she would always be

Playing Cinderella

Riding her first bike

Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight

Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin

Dancing with her dad, looking up at him

In her eyes i'm Prince Charming

But to him i'm just some fella

riding in and stealing Cinderella

He slapped me on the shoulder

Then he called her in the room

When she threw her arms around him

That's when I could see it too

Playing Cinderella

Riding her first bike

Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight

Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin

Dancing with her dad, looking up at him

If he gives me a hard time

I can't blame the fella

I'm the one who's stealing Cinderel
