More days before wedding or after?

Recommended Posts

I need help picking my wedding date! *pulling hair out*

We can only be gone a week due to fiance's business ... and DT is only offering Monday's and a Tuesday for this June (yes ... it's very last minute).

My hang up is that we can only stay a week and with having to be there a day or two before it makes the most sense to leave on a Friday (or Thursday) but then we're there more days before the wedding than after.

How do most of you feel about this? Is it more fun to be there and be the "bride to be" and have fun leading up to ... or to get married shortly after arriving ... and have more time as the new "Mrs"huh.gif?

I really wanted a Friday so we could come in on Wednesday and stay until the following Tuesday but that is just not going to happen.

Thanks! *SmiLes* Suzanne

Suzanne, you're just going to have to keep legal boundaries in mind. For example, you must be IN Mexico for four BUSINESS DAYS before you can legally be married there. It's the same in most of Central America as well.

Other than that, We are getting married on a Tuesday, but figured that since it was everyone's "vacay away" a Tuesday is just like a Saturday at home. :)

Good luck deciding!

OMGosh! I forgot to say that we will legally marry here first (in Texas) and then do the ceremonial version there. Most have posted here that you need to be there 2 days before (Dreams Tulum) but when I talked to them this morning she (Anabel) said I could come the day before and it would be fine.

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble committing to this! This is totally what I want! But I did really want a Friday and so I'm having some trouble changing my mindset. I'm usually very laid back and easy going so this is stressing me out!

If I get married on Tuesday, June 30th ... I need to decide when to come in and when to leave. *sigh* I need a date so I can start inviting people!

Well, we definitely stayed longer before our wedding and we didn't think anything of it. BUT, we wanted our "honeymoon" to be with family and friends.

We arrived in Mexico on a Monday. Got married on Friday and then we left Mexico on Monday.

I think in the middle would be good, have 3 days before then then wedding day then 3 days after. this way you have time to get organized, your guests have time to settle in, meet each other and bond then the wedding day celebration then the 3 days to relax and really enjoy a vacation with no other worries you know? that is what i am doing. also gives people time to recover the day after the wedding LOL

My fiance and I decided to stay a few days longer after the wedding. We are getting married on Saturday, and our families are staying until Monday/Tuesday. We wanted to have a "honeymoon" so we booked until the next Friday. Either way, I think it will be awesome to be out there together! I am getting so excited! smile29.gif

I got married on day 5 of a 7 day trip, (i.e. arrival day, 3 full days, then wedding day, one full day, then departure day) so I only had one full day after the wedding. I was a bit disappointed about this, thought it would be better to get married a day or two earlier, but I had no choice because of the 4 business day rule (not counting the weekend). Turns out I didn't mind at all! Once I got there I was having so much fun and the trip was so relaxing that I didn't mind waiting for the wedding day, I had other things on my mind too (having fun), it's not like I was sitting around waiting for the wedding day. And having only one day afterwards wasn't that bad either. Sure, it would have been fun to stay 2 weeks, but if staying only one week I don't think it's that big of a deal to have 2 days before the wedding and 2 days after or however else it works out. I was just happy to have at least the one day (I would not want to have to leave the morning after my wedding!)

Don't worry so much about the small details. We can never have everything perfect, and in the end it doesn't matter anyways! (trust me, normally I am a perfectionist, but in the end, these things don't matter).
