Hello,

I think you have plenty of time and should wait to nail down your location before sending the STD cards out. You can spread the word verbally that you are planning on having a destination wedding, just to get people prepared ahead of time and to plant the seed in their heads that they will need to take some time off of work and start saving for their trip.

Personally, I have just sent out the STD's and am sending actual invites in June. All of our guests already new about the DW so it didnt come as a suprise to anyone.

Hope this helps...try not to worry too much, one thing you see on this forum is that we all worry and stress about everything and in the end...the wedding ends up being perfect msnwink.gif

I am getting married on October 29, 2009 and I sent the STDs out March 1, 2009. I don't know that you can expect people to be able to RSVP if you don't know the exact date, location and price range so I would suggest working that stuff out before you send the STD but that is just my opinion.

I also plan on sending out invitations a little bit earlier than traditionally recommended. I figure that with a destination wedding, people will know earlier if they are coming or not because it is such a committment. So, right now I am thinking maybe July. Wow, time flies!

It's a question that still confuses me a little. My wedding is in 2011 and I know you can start booking from April 2010 - I have a few young families attending and they will need to book family rooms which there isn't many as I have chosen a 'premium hotel' which is not really geared up for families. I guess I'll be sending my STD information with details early 2010 in preparation for booking but I guess I will need to talk to the travel agents as if I can't provide firm details then there is little point.

My wedding is in April 2010. We started to tell people about our plans to marry in Mexico around Christmas time and I just mailed out my stds about a week ago. I am planning on sending the invites in the middle of August with an rsvp date of October 1st so I can get a pretty good idea of how many people are actually going.

I would wait until you pick a resort and date (confirmed with the resort) before sending out your std. HTH

My wedding is also in April 2010. I sent my STDs out a couple weeks ago with Jamaica April 2010 on them and our website to RSVP. We put on the website that we were looking for approx. numbers for our travel agent.

I'm a bit confused now about invitations. When should I send them and do we include our travel info with them and also include an RSVP card?? The timing and what exactly to include is confusing me!!! HELP!

Since your wedding is April of 2010 you should have your invites, rsvp cards and travel info. sent by December of 2009. Have the requested rsvp date be for February or March. Here is some example rsvp wording:

Please respond by the tenth of February

Use as many inserts or enclosure cards as needed to include travel information, or you can just state on your invitation to go to your Web site for more information. (I see that all the time).

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

I am planning a March 2010 wedding, and I plan to have my STD's out by the end of May at the latest. I am waiting until everything is confirmed with my location first (waiting for rates). I'm thinking about doing boarding pass STD's; I will include all of the travel agent information within it, so that they can start planning/booking right away. I'm not going to have an RSVP card, but will have the address for our website, that will have an RSVP feature, which I'm hoping people will use. I'm planning to send invitations three months before my actual wedding, which will have the date and time of the ceremony and reception (as well as location info for those who haven't booked yet)...I will include the formal RSVP cards then.

I am getting married December 01, 2010. I have already started to spread the word to most of my friends and relatives. The FI side thats a different story. This is a 2nd marriage for both of us and he is waiting for his final divorce papers before he tells his side. (very long story) He has been on his own for 5 years but they had a legal separation not a divorce. Anyways I am hoping to send the STD sometime in the summer, and the formal inivitations December 09.
