Excited to get married, but it's tough to marry an Aussie

Hello,

I've been engaged for 4 1/2 weeks, and I'm still trying to pick a region let alone a date (we are thinking Nov 09 - Feb 10)

My fiance is Australian and my family is on the east coast of the states so it makes it hard to find a destination that suites everyone.

We are leaning toward Cancun/ Riviera Maya because it is easiest for my side (especially me who needs to plan it). And it is affordable, but my fiance is sad because it is unlikely that any of his friends will be able to make it.

The other option was Hawaii, but that is so far for everyone and it's so expensive. I guess they are assuming wedding spending is recession proof, but I think it is a bit excessive!

If anyone has any words of wisdom on how to handle this situation, it is much appreciated!

Lisa

Hi Lisa, good luck in planning! Planning a destination wedding will likely result in complaints from many (but then again, so do at-home weddings). The most important thing is that you and your fiance are both happy with your decision, so sit down and really talk about it. You'll find lots of helpful, wonderful people on here as well as great information!!
