what should my dad wear?

Recommended Posts

so i finally found a place that carries charcoal grey tuxes. i had a hard time believe it or not trying to find them. it's a place in philly called gallelli formal wear- they were GREAT!!!!!!!!

anyway, what is your opinion on this-

fi and ring bearer are wearing charcoal grey tux, ivory shirt, tie and vest. the 3 groomsmen will wear the charcoal grey tux, ivory shirt, with a grey & blk vest and blk tie.i was going to have my dad wear the same as the groomsmen...but the shop said normally the father of the bride wears a blk tux, not the same as the bridal party, ? obviously it's up to me but they just mentioned that. what do you guys think? i dont really have a preference at this point but am trying to get diff opinions.

thanks!

But what if the wedding party was wearing a black tux, then he would be wearing the same right? If it was me I'd have him wear the grey tux so it fits in...if he's the only one in black that might look kinda weird. Or what if he just wears a suit instead of a tux?

I think either black or grey is fine. He should dress around your mom's dress. Isn't that the way it usually is? But I am not about it being all matchy matchy. But he hsould definately compliment (if not match) your mom. You could probably even have him get a grey tux, but a different one, so that he matches, but doesnt' blend.

I am anti-black clothing, so I think grey is better. Plus, I saw your mom's dress and I think it would look really nice witha dark grey tux on Chuck.

it's funny because my mom just asked me what the guys are wearing and if i wanted my dad to match them ... i thought it was the strangest thing. why would my dad match the groomsmen if my mom doesn't match the bridesmaids? i agree with the previous poster, just make sure he doesn't clash with what your mom is wearing, since they will probably be in several photos together! :)
