CANADIAN OOT BAG info...where to shop!

Recommended Posts

I was worried about weight too, BUT, most couples can pack into one suitcase, and I asked if I could use their extra.  My mom and dad are jaming into one, because they dont need to bring as much as us, and I am having the extra, same with my FI parents and aunt and uncle.  I have my little boy to pack for as well, meaning diapers and food are a must.... so that will take up a big chunk of my suitcase, I think I am going to need about 4 to get all of mine, my fi, and my son's stuff to Jamaica, along with the OOT's.  It seems like SO much... Also, check into the price on extra baggage, I know that for one extra bag it is something around 25.00 for us... so it is worth it for me to just pay the 25.00 and pack an extra one!

I forgot about my first aid kit, that is outside of my survival kit too!!!  I just have to keep telling myself, my guests don't even know what an OOT bag is and I think they will be pleased to get whatever is inside!!!!!!!!  I like the beach ball idea though, I mentioned it to FI and he said that would be fun.  Another option would be inexpensive float rafts, I know we have a lazy river type pool and I always love to lay on something in the pool.  I believe we got them at Walmart for like $3 last year but I think dollarama may have some too right now, that would definitely fill them up!

I am worried about weight at this point.  We only are allowed 1 suitcase each (thought it was 2) so I really don't want to add anything that weighs a ton!!!!

Hi Ladies,

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in coming as far as Bowmanville (50km east of Toronto), but I was just at the Dollarstore in the Bowmanville Mall and they had $2 spf 30 Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen (240 ml) and $2 aloe vera spray bottles (360 ml).  I only took 8 of each and there are a number left.

Might be worth the time for some of the other Durham area brides.

Happy shopping!!
Melissa

Hey ladies,

Just a possible thought for those of you feeling your bags are too empty - I bought brown kraft paper bags at michaels for less than $1 per bag (and saw them cheaper at Walmart afterwards) and put all my stuff in those. If you had a cloth bag originally for your OOT bag and toss that in as well, it would make the bags look super full!  We just decorated the paper bags with stamps and my mom did calligraphy on them with the guests' names.

It is only $20 for an extra bag for us (each way) so I think we will just do a duffle or two and then we only pay the one way because we'll throw the duffles in our bags on the way home to save there!!!!

Hi,

Now that we booked our wedding for next year I started thinking about my OOT bags. Not sure if these have been mentioned before, but some other things we are going to add is this new tide travel packs. They were around 1.60 in Shoppers and come packaged with two little packets with some tide in them so you can hand wash in your sick or tub. I love this idea since I usually bring some detergent to wash my bathing suits and bras out half way through the trip (or once when I spilled something on a pair of pants I wanted to wear again later in the trip). They come neatly packaged and I found them in the travel section at Shoppers but I bet they have them at Wal-Mart and stuff. I think this is something that most people would not think to bring either.

The other thing I am working on is a tips and tricks list. I love Trip Advisor for finding out things about the resort. Nothing major, just things that might help you enjoy your trip more (like if you don't shut your balcony door all the way tightly the air conditioning will shut off or to ask for this special dessert that is amazing but not on the menu...). I have been compiling a list of tips and will print them on nice beach paper I saw at staples and put a list in each persons bag.
