I went to bath and body works and all I found was the 5 for $10 items (making the $2 each) still a great deal but a lot of similar stuff I have been able to find for the $1 price point so why spend the extra dollar?!  Natalie would you mind posting the body wash and body lotion?  I was looking at the small ones but the were $2 each... maybe the prices have gone down?! I might have to go check it out again tomorrow!!!!  The room sprays are a great idea and $1.25 is the perfect price!!!!

So since we don't have an idea of #s yet I can't really start my OOT shopping.  Though we have a "rough" idea it doesn't make sense for me to pick up those always available things like kleenex, hand sanitizer etc. until we have exact numbers.  I decided to go out today to "price" some things and get a better idea of where we will be per bag.  Since the dollar store has become the wedding planning store during this process and I have become addicted to pictures on these forums I thought I would take shots of what I thought would be great finds to share with my fellow Canadian BDW brides!!!!  Sorry some of the picture quality is poor... I took them on my cellphone and I was trying to do it on the sly as I figured people would probably think I was nuts!

 

I was considering making my own soaps, bath salts or something like that to include in the bags.  When I found these shell soaps I thought I would pick up one pack to check them out!  They are actually quite nice, perfect size for the week and stick with the "beach" theme!  The picture below this will show the actual soap.  

 

 

only $0.33 EACH!!!!!!  (ignore the dents and scuffs on this one, I dropped the soap on the floor)

 

 

I know some brides were talking about including candles (maybe the $2 bath and body works minis) so you will need matches!  I saw this pack of 10 for $1 and you could easily customize by printing a label to cover the "touch" side of the match box!

 

Individual wrapped lens cleaning cloths (good for cameras, sunglasses etc.) 20 for $1 - to the left is the microfibre lens cleaning cloths great for sunglasses to remove water drops from the ocean and pool!!!!! They are $1 each, I think you may be able to find something more inexpensive!

 

 

Canada Luggage tags and Passport Covers - just saw the sport watches to the right... never thought of it but may be a neat thing to attach to the bag so people can keep track of time! I know I NEVER bring a watch down south with me, a mini alarm clock or something may be nice too depending on your resort!

 

 

4 mini hand sanitizers for $1... they are the same size and the mini Bath and Body Works ones for only $0.25 each!!

 

I have been looking high and low for mini bubble baths at a reasonable price.  Our resort has indoor jacuzzis in every room and some rooms have outdoor jacuzzis so I think it would be a great addition for our guests if they were able to enjoy a bubble bath!  I found these at The Bargain Shop (tbs) 7 of them for $4.50!!! I thought it was a great find, I am thinking of putting our monograms or label over the front of what is here possibly.  The bargain shop was a great stop on my adventure, they have travel items and lots of great stuff for a really good price, some stuff even cheaper than the dollar store

Vanilla rom spray, they had 2 or 3 other scents as well!  I didn't know the bath and body works ones were only $1.25 so I would likely opt for those over these but they are another option!!!!

 

 

LARGE jute (burlap, think potatoe sack) tote bags for $2 - these are a very very good size, they could easily fit a large beach towel and other items.  The inside is waterproof (or resistant at least)

 

3 pack of citronella candles $2 - nice for balconies at night

 

Found these fun plastic (very light) picture frames, they came in black (translucent for almost a dark grey) and hot pink as well! Found be great for table numbers etc.

 

Some dollarstore travel items - lotion, scrub, lotion

Love these, really good size 2 for $1! They come in yellow (lemon) and hot pink (berry) love the idea that you can colour coordinate your hand sanitizer!!!!

See the dora ones with the clip at the bottom of the photo - Bargain Shop had them for $.80 NOT DORA just neutral but with the clip.  Nice to attach to your beach or OOT bag!

 

 

 

Not really for OOTs but I am going to do Swag Bags for my girlfriends surprise bachelorette/shower the end of this month.  I will be using the pink and green bags and I have designed a monogram I will print onto stickers and attach to the bags.  I am looking for feedback on what we should include in the bag! We want them to be useful/classic things not the penis straw etc. we will have those, just not in the bags.  I think my obsession with OOT bags for our wedding and not being able to do them right away led me to wanting to do these for her!  I would LOVE to hear what you all think I should put in the bags!!!!

Wow you have been busy, I love all the pics! Thanks for sharing all the great ideas. I have a tbs store in the town I live in but never thought to check it out! Might head there tomorrow. I really like the bubble bath idea and 7 for $4.50 is awesome!

 

I love the idea of a swag bag! Here are some suggestions for your swag bag; bubble bath, small bottles if lotion or perfume, makeup or a makeup bag, nail polish, hair accessories, or candy, that's all I can think of now!

Wow! Thanks for all the great ideas, Tori! As for shipping from Oriental Trading (I think you asked in a post a few pages back... I just read through and am getting caught up!), it wasn't too bad. I ordered my OOT bags (60) and the total came to $140 with shipping/taxes/duty. Also, I ordered them during the strike and the came by purolator within a week!

 

Tam - where is there a TBS in Ottawa?

Thanks for the swag bag suggestions Tam, never even thought to get the bubble bath for the Swag Bags only for the OOTs but that will be perfect! We are starting with an at home spa party so it fits the theme even!!! 

 

Manda which OOT bags did you get?  That is an awesome price for them with shipping and duty and LOVE that they arrived via purolator (damn mail strike)  I was looking at the canvas looking totes with blue handles (like the dollar tree ones - not sure if you have seen them) they are a great price!

 

Some other things I forgot to mention

- 9 pack of individual bubbles (clear bottle) $1 @ Dollarama

- Straw mat for the "shoes optional" at our ceremony comes in black purple, pink, green and blue.  $1.25 at Dollarama

If you have a La Senza outlet near you check it out!!  Last time I was there they had a bunch of different lotions and body washes in scents like coconut, mango, etc.  They were really cheap, I think about $2 each and full size.
