Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

Millebe,

The old rates included the standard open bar.  The new rates now include a "premium open bar," which was previously optional.  I would prefer to have options.

Kristen,

Congrats on choosing a date and location!  Weddings at the Grand for 2012 now have a set list of vendors that you are required to use (including music, flowers, entertainers, etc).  So you don't have many options if you're trying to stay cost effective.  The only vendor that you can choose on your own is the photographer/videographer.  These are new policies and they may change for 2013.  But if you know you're going to have a decent sized group, I would suggest going with a travel agent to reserve some rooms.  I did that and we're able to get several perks out of it, like free nights and a free group dinner/cocktail hour (these are promotions offered through the resort).

Good luck with the planning.

Thanks Leah for the clarification about the premium bar now included in the price of the private reception. I hope there will be no more price changes before my wedding in November 2012. My father is going to Jamaica in two weeks. He will do a site visit and hopefully will take a lot of pics and give me his review of the place. I hope that I will have pics I can share with everyone. :)

Hi everyone,

I am planning my wedding at the Iberostar Grand in May and it seems like I just keep having more and more questions.  I am so glad I stumbled upon this!

Does anyone know if there is a minimum guest count to have a private reception at the Port Maria?  I gave my guests until March 31st to send back their RSVP cards, so I won't know the absolute final numbers until roughly six weeks out (now realizing how bad of an idea March 31 was).

Does anyone have pics of the Port Maria restaurant they can share?  And do we know what decorations come standard with the private reception (if any)?

The cost for the private reception is still unclear to me.  The literature/brochures I have received are inconsistent.  I wanted to do the "Gala" option at $70 per person, but I can't tell if that price would be additional on top of the $3000?  When I asked the hotel they made it sound like it was just $70 per person and that included any rental fees (in other words, no $3K).

Has anyone figured out how the dj thing works?  Will she/he serve as MC for the night and facilitate the dances, toasts, etc.?

Thanks!!!

Hi Ladies,

I got married at the Grand 12-3-11.  Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm also planning a wedding for a bride (starting up an event planning biz) at the Grand for 4-28. So I will be going back to Mecca aka Jamaica 4/25-4/29!!

I will send you a link for my pictures once my photographer's website is up and running.

Congratulations!

I have lots of questions!  (There are very few Grand brides on here.)  Where did you have your ceremony?  Was the location private (no on-lookers running around in the background)?  Did you have a private reception at Port Maria?  If so, how is the space organized?  Is there room for long rectangular tables?

Do you know about the Grand's new policies?  No outside vendors...flowers, music, entertainment, etc.  This didn't affect your wedding, but it will be affect your April 4th wedding.  Did you just use the Grand's recommended vendors or did you find people from the outside?  I'm still hesitant to use Tai Flora, but I fear there are no other options (unless I bring fake flowers).  If you used Tai Flora, how did you like the quality of their work compared to the price?  Did you go with their included bouquet or did you upgrade?

Did you do any extra events, like bonfire or group rehearsal dinner?  Where is the bonfire set-up (near the Suites or away from the Suites)?

Which wedding package did you have?  I haven't found anyone yet who has done the "free package" (probably because it's new).  But I'm still trying to figure out exactly what basics are included.

Thanks!  I think that's all for now.
