Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

Recommended Posts

Hi Leah!

Just so you know - I was in the same boat as you after my fiance and I did a site visit and checked out both the Suites and the Grand. We already have our wedding date and the free wedding package set at the Grand for June 9, 2012 and after visiting the Suites, we were considering moving our wedding there since it seemed like more of a "fun/party" resort than the Grand, but the WC at the Suites said all of the dates were already taken for June 2012 so we have to keep our date at the Grand. I am actually happy we are staying with the Grand now because I think the wedding site is a lot better and more private than the Suites. Also like you said, I also think it is cheaper if you are getting the free wedding package.

Just my opinion - but I hope that helps! Also, if you are planning for June 2012, you should probably try to secure your date ASAP because I think they fill up fast!

Best of luck!

Susan

Did anyone in this forum consider the Suites?  I will definitely stay at the Grand, but I can't decide which location is better for the wedding.  With the Grand's free package and paying $1750 for the private reception, I think it may still be cheaper than the Suites (they charge $1900 for the package (non-legal), $800 for a private reception and $18 pp over 8 people)...even if I need to pay for some of my guests' day passes who are staying at the Suites or the Beach resort ($50 each) I think the Grand may still come out to be cheaper.  Does this logic make sense?

Has anyone looked at the 2 resorts to compare ceremony sites?  I just don't want to get married in a crowded area where 50 on-lookers are standing around in their bathing suits.  And I know the reception choices are different as well.  Is the Grand just much better than the Suites?

Thanks Susan.

At first I was told the Suites were full (this was about a week ago).  But yesterday I decided to call them up and double check.   They told me they had 3 dates open!  So I reserved June 11th right away.  Today I called the Grand and they told me they still have several dates available for June.  So now I'm not sure what to do.  My fiance wants to stay at the Suites, since he thinks many of our guests will end up there (since it is a cheaper and a few have kids).  Plus if our guests are staying at the Suites, we will likely be over there frequently since they can't come to the Grand.  Which also means that they will have to pay for the $50 day pass to come to the wedding.

But my reasoning is that the Grand will be about $1,000 cheaper for the wedding (with the free package).  So we could apply that money to the day passes...or we can spend it on our honeymoon (I want to switch it up and go to another hotel for a few days after the wedding).  Plus, I am worried about the ceremony sites at the Suites.  As you said, the Grand seems more private.  From the photos, it looks like the only options for the ceremony are in the middle of the lazy river, or in the middle of the lobby, or in the middle of the beach in front of the pool.  Either way, you're in the middle of something!

I could honestly go either way as I'm sure they are both great options...but the privacy for the ceremony and the butler at the Grand sound really great!

I want to finalize a reservation tomorrow (since they seem to go really quickly).  So we will have to battle it out tonight and see who wins...

  • 3 weeks later...

We have finally decided on the Grand. Our wedding will be June 10, 2012. And I fear I have a lot to do since I still haven't sent out STD. We are going to do the free wedding. Does anyone know what decorations (if any) come with this package? Do I need to arrange all my own centerpieces or fabric for the arch or chair covers?

Hi Leah!

Congrats!! My fiance and myself are getting married at the Grand Feb 03, 2012!! We also are going with the Free Wedding package. As per your comment about decorations- No decorations are included! The only things that the Free wedding package includes is; cake, set-up of chairs, music for ceremony and I think bouquet./ corsage for bride and groom. Dont forget you will be charged $20 per persons that exceed more then 10 people for ceremony.

We are paying for private reception location- Port Maria, Flowers, Huppa for beach ceremony, steel drums, dj, photographer, etc. everything with this resort cost's money!!! Be prepared......it has been an exhausting experience!!!

I wish you all the best with your planning. If you have any more questions, shoot me a message!

Does anyone know if the Grand has a outside entertainment bar? to sit around in the evening and enjoy drinks and entertainment?

I want to set up a "Mixer Party" for my guests on arrival. So everyone has a chance to get to know one another....I was told that the bar's at the Grand cant accommodate more then 15 persons- thinking this is crazzy , as I'm sure there are more then 15 people staying at the resort. The Lovely Wedding Coordinator, or should I say- Nickle and dimer- Janielle- indicated that I would have to pay to use a bar at the resort.

Any suggestions?

April

Sunshine & Susan, We plan to arrive on Wednesday of that week. I may be the one lurking from afar to check out your weddings! Are you both doing beach ceremonies & private reception at Port Maria? I wrote to Janielle with all the questions above and asked for other ceremony options (non-beach) with pictures...but I'm still waiting for a reply.

Leah & Shannon!

I can't wait! The Grand isn't going to know what hit them! It will be a blast! I'm still not sure if all my guests are staying at the Suites or the Grand which is frustrating but we are trying to figure everything out ASAP. How many people do guys think will be coming for your wedding? We had about 60 people RSVP so far. We are doing a ceremony on the beach and a private reception either at Port Maria or right on the beach. Shannon - where are you doing your welcome party at? I'm not sure if we're doing a welcome party yet but we might just do a Welcome Catamaran Cruise on Thursday also and then just a rehearsal dinner on Friday. Does anyone know for sure when the Beach Party is held at the Grand? I thought it was Sunday nights but I could be wrong.

Can't wait to meet you girls!
