Very doubtful. But you should talk to the WC.

Hi Leah!

I had my ceremony on the beach. My picture link should be working now. It wasn't private, however there is a location to the far west of the resort that is private. The only reason why I didn't use this location was because I had my wedding in December and the sun sets early so there would of been a lot of shadows from the trees. Yes I had a private reception at the Port Maria with a buffet and open bar. For set up check out my pictures and let me know if you have any additional questions. Yes, you could do long rectangular tables. I went with large round tables.

The new policy is your only allowed to bring in your own outside photographer, videographer, and make up artist. Any entertainment or flowers must be through the resorts vendors. Yes this is affecting my April wedding and I'm currently arguing with the resort. I used alot of outside vendors. I used Tia Flora for my welcome party arrangements and she did a great job! I'm using her for my brides upcoming wedding. She's a bit overpriced but you can negotiate with her.

I had a beach party, no bonfire, we had a reggae band and tiki torches set up.

I had the Grand ceremony package.

I have lots of questions!  (There are very few Grand brides on here.)  Where did you have your ceremony?  Was the location private (no on-lookers running around in the background)?  Did you have a private reception at Port Maria?  If so, how is the space organized?  Is there room for long rectangular tables?

Do you know about the Grand's new policies?  No outside vendors...flowers, music, entertainment, etc.  This didn't affect your wedding, but it will be affect your April 4th wedding.  Did you just use the Grand's recommended vendors or did you find people from the outside?  I'm still hesitant to use Tai Flora, but I fear there are no other options (unless I bring fake flowers).  If you used Tai Flora, how did you like the quality of their work compared to the price?  Did you go with their included bouquet or did you upgrade?

Did you do any extra events, like bonfire or group rehearsal dinner?  Where is the bonfire set-up (near the Suites or away from the Suites)?

Which wedding package did you have?  I haven't found anyone yet who has done the "free package" (probably because it's new).  But I'm still trying to figure out exactly what basics are included.

Thanks!  I think that's all for now.

Great pictures!!!

I am doing a similar reception place card thing using the sand dollars, but I think we are going to get the guests' names printed directly on the sand dollars. Did you make yours or order them with the text?

For those of you who are having issues with a price increase, did you make a deposit to lock in those rates?  I've gotten a lot of information for 2012 prices but our date isn't until Spring 2013, I don't want to go through what you are now!  I'd be so angry especially when you are budgeting everything based on the prices that you have been given.

If it's only the Grand, I may switch locations.  I've been considering doing the Suite instead since most of my guests will be staying there anyway.

hey ladies!  I've tried everything- but nothing worked- the Grand will not honor any of the prices from when I booked my wedding in August of 2011.  I guess we will just have to move on.  I will continue to bash them so brides don't book at the Grand.  I recommend having your wedding off site.  I'm trying to look into offsite and use their free ceremony.

I chose the Free Wedding Package for my 7/3/12 wedding date b/c I wasn't initially sure about the amount of people who would be attending. I am estimating 15-20 people at this time. I'm just looking for a nice and simple wedding; wedding on the beach, cocktail hour and a dinner. I'm torn b/t a private party or just having folks meet at the night club (is that crazy?). I'm just not sure how many "partiers" I have that will dance and and really make the most of a private reception

DeAngelis2be, how was the food at Port Maria (variety/ taste)?

Leah22, the free wedding package includes minister fees, arrangement for official license, bouquet and boutonniere, wedding cake for 10 people, one bottle of champagne for a toast, room upgrade depending on availability, late check-up on departure day, one romantic dinner during stay. The package is for a maximum of 10 people or $20 extra pp. The "grand" package had a few things that didn't appeal to us, but as I keep reviewing it, it might look better once our a la carte options are added up :/
