Smores or no Smores

Recommended Posts

OK so here's my question - I need your opinions!

Because the Hilton has an 11 pm cut-off time for music/parties on the terraces we are going to move our party from the terrace down to the beach for a bonfire at 11pm. Anyway Emeline suggested we serve drinks (which I am happy about) and also possibly offering smores to our guests. We are estimating about 60 people and it costs $3.50/pp for smores (plus tax & service - comes out to $262.50 for 60 people).

However I'm not sure if the smores are worth it. With our buffet dinner we get fruit cocktail, custard and tres leches cake. Later in the evening we'll have our "cake" (aka 4 different flavors of cupcakes). I think offering smores is a cute treat but I cabn't imagine many people will wan t to basically eat a third dessert of the night. But everyone will be siiting around the fire and people will have been drinking for like 5 hours by that point so maybe they would like them? Do you think it's worth it?

while it would be really fun, I think you are right that would be a lot of desert.

I think drinks would be good, what about getting something fun like sparklers for that money instead.

I agree with Christine- I think its a waste of $$ for smores. Maybe some other type of activityhuh.gif Hmm, how about a group trash the dress session with your photog?? (haha, sorry, I just saw Sol and Matts video)

Hi Kash, I voted 'no' just because it sounded like too many sweets.

If you feel like you need to poke something into the fire, what about just marshallows?

A few bags of those would be cheap, spend the rest of the $$ on more drinks :)

huh... I wonder if you could head out to the nearest Costco or whatever that sells marshmellows? Could you bring those in? That'd be cheap and does the trick.

We did smores at our rehearsal dinner and everyone loved it.

Quick question - can you ask Emeline to cut out hte fruit cocktail and the tres leches cake in exchange for the smores? People will pass on the fruit because it's Mexico. Also, if you're having "cake," they won't need the tres leches cake.

We had so many left-over deserts at our rehearsal dinner (hardly anyone had any) that I'm really glad we only had our tres leches wedding cake at the actual reception. You definitely won't miss the extra desserts and the guests will totally talk about the smores at the beach (at least, ours did and still do).
