Do u tip the tattoo guy?

Wow, I would never have thought to tip on a tattoo. It has been ten years since I've gotten one, but it never crossed my mind to do. I guess I always figured that since they charge you based on what you are getting they are charging me enough. Not like getting your hair done, where the salon sets the price for a haircut, kwim. I have one that needs to be recolored... now I know to tip!

wwwaaaahhhhh so i want to scream right now. i got the tattoo colored in, well part of it, and i have a major rash now on my backkkkkkkk.

i want to cut the skin off my back its so annoying. could this possibly be infected or do you think a&d ointment can cause this? its like a red rash some look like acne almostttttt.

if it dont get better ill go to docs but am just hoping it goes awayyyyyyyyyyy. (im whining if u cant tell) did this ever happen to anyoneeeeee?

jacqueline... i think i can help!!

my FI is a tattoo artist (see my little picture there) and breakouts like that can happen when you don't let the skin breathe. i would DEFINITELY not use a&d on the tattoo as some people can have bad reactions to this and it may cause some scabbing. get a good brand of UNSCENTED aloe-free skin lotion (we use regular lubriderm.. and if you use scented lotion it feels like your skin is on fire.. trust me!!) and only put a light coat so your pores don't get clogged up. if your skin doesn't start to heal in a few days i'd definitely get it checked out, but i've seen (and had) similar reactions myself just caused by the lotion!

and my two cents on the tipping... do it!! i think someone made the point earlier, but unless you're getting one from the shop owner, there is big time profit share. my FI's is 60/40, so they really don't walk away with much at the end of the day. there isn't a set amount.. whatever you're comfortable with, but know that it is GREATLY appreciated. of course you don't have to if you don't want to, but your artist will love you for it!

I was going to say lubriderm too. I only used lubriderm on mine. I've heard people having reactions to the other stuff. And I have super sensitive skin and wasn't going to take the chance. My brother is the same and when using the a&d he had a reaction. I hope it clear up.

I had that reaction and I ended up getting a cream for the Dr as it was just too bad lol When I showed him you'd think i'd killed his kids the look I got for the tat lmao
