Poll - For All you Married BDW'ers out there...

Recommended Posts

I just read a post from Heather007 who has the post wedding blues and wishes she had more time with her hubby during her honeymoon, which made me wonder how many of you who have done the DW wish you had a private honeymoon with just the 2 of you or are glad you had a honeymoon with all your family and friends?

having a private honeymoon was the best thing we ever did. had we come home right after our wedding i think it would have felt more like a big family vacation and not my wedding week. we ended up going from mexico to belize which i know may not in everyone's budget, but i think even switching hotels/resorts or sides of the island/country is worth it.

we had 55 friends and family with us for the first week, and 9 family members with us the second week. We had originally planned on changing resorts the 2nd week, but it wasn't in th budget so we stayed...I wish it had been a honeymoon for just the two of us instead....oh well, good excuse to have my husband take me on a second honeymoon in the first year!

we had friends and family with us from the very first day to the very last day. I must admit, that while it was fun, it was also tiring trying to make sure we spent time with everyone. We enjoyed having everyone there, but we definitely did not get the honeymoon feel after the wedding AT ALL!! We're thinking of doing a quick getaway to have that.

However, all of that said, I wouldn't change it for the world. We both loved having family and friends there with us, we only wish we would have taken one night just for the two of us.

We had one week with family and friends and one week for ourselves...

And as lovely as it was seeing our family and friends and hanging out with them...it was MORE lovely to just have time for us:-)

I can't tell you how tired I was from having to see/meet up with people on top of doing wedding stuff...

I ordered a big, fat fruity, heavily-laced-with-alcohol drink, after we saw the last of them off!:-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
