Unknown Destination May 08

Hi ladies,

I have been engaged for over 2 months and still haven't decided on a location! I would like to an all inclusive resort somewhere easy for everyone to get to from the US (I'm expecting 50-80 guests!). I am finding myself searching everywhere and really need to narrow it down. I'm all for suggestions! We are planning on April or May of 2008. P

Hi! Picking a destination was definitely the hardest thing for me as well. We're going to the Dominican Republic to an AI resort - Gran Bahia Punta Cana/Bavaro. We chose that one because it's nice and reasonably priced for our guests.

Many of the other girls are going to great AI resorts in Mexico too. You'll find tons of info here!

Good luck!

Congratulations, and welcome! Deciding on the location is the hardest part, if you ask me, we waited a couple months before deciding as well. There are so many options - are you leaning towards any in particular? Mexico, Hawaii, Carribbean, Dom. Republic, California, etc. ... let us know more about what you're looking for and we will help!

Well first of all, congratulations on your engagement!! And don't worry about being stressed about the location. That was the hardest part for me (I decided 9 months after I got engaged lol).

Where do you live in the US? Are you concerned about the length of the flights? Are you thinking driving distance? Will guests be staying for a long period of time, or more like a weekend trip? There are locations within the US and Canada that you can go to that are beautiful places, it doesn't have to be somewhere w/beaches. Where do you see yourself getting married? The beach? Surrounded by flowers and greenery? At a church? There are tons of things that can help narrow down the options, and we're more than willing to help! :)

Welcome! There are also some more questions we'll need to know to help you out. What kind of a budget are we looking at. Not overall, but what are you going to be expecting your guests to pay for a week? Are children invited? Do you like to do excursions, or is that not important. Is a beautiful beach that's swimable important?

I've been engaged since Christmas Eve and still haven't completely decided!!! We're probably doing it in Jamaica (though I really want Belize now too!), but definitely in April 2008.

April and May are off-season for the Caribbean, so you'd get some good deals there. I can only speak for Jamaica (which greatly discounts rates in April & May) and Belize (May would be cheaper). I don't know what kind of budget you have (we're on a tight one), so we're looking at the Riu resorts. They're all inclusive but still affordable, and we want as many of our guests as possible to be able to come so affordability is key for us. Our front runner: Riu Ocho Rios Hotel, Jamaicas Newest All Inclusive Resort

Look forward to hearing where you decide to go...let me know if I can be any help! (And maybe you can help me decide, hahaha!)

congrats on your engagement, I live in the DC area too...there are so many places to pick from, I can understand why you are having a hard time.

You might want to ask yourself what are your must haves and then look for places that have those.

Also an option that I don't think anyone on here has looked into is a cruise, that way you get to go to a lot of places. Not sure if you would have to get married on the boat though because of residency requirements.
