Heart Rate Monitor HELP!

Mel&B

Recommended Posts

I just bought a Sigma Onxy Balance heart rate monitor. I went on a 4.5 mile run yesterday. I ran at a pretty fast pace, and I was a little disappointed to see that I only burned about 400 calories. However, I was still excited to be using my heart rate monitor.

This morning, I tried to use it while I did Level 2 of Gillian's 3o Day Shred. The Shred makes my heart pound, but my watch didn't pick up my heart rate at all. I had it on correctly, and I did wet the sensors. I am so confused and irritated!!! Does anyone have any advise? Has this happened to you?

Lastly, where do you wear the strap? Inside your sports bra and right below the boobs? Or below the bottom of your sports bra and slightly lower on your chest?

Thanks for your help! smile03.gif

I also wear mine right below the sports bra. I have a Polar.

400 is awesome good for you! I hate that feeling though like you should have burnt like 1000 cause you were dying and all sweaty. At least you know it's not overestimating. :)

- make sure you have the correct height/weight plugged in so that it can be accurate.

I wear mine under my sports bra right under my boobs. I feel like the sports bra helps keep it from moving too. Also, make sure it is reading your heart rate before you start exercising. Sometimes with mine if I don't let it read my heart rate for a few minutes before I start it'll never start up. Idk why. I hold the watch right near the center of the chest strap when I first put it on to ensure that it is reading my heart rate.

I don't know if you have tried tapping the watch against the chest strap, but sometimes that helps get it going when its being finicki.....

And under the sports bra, right below the boobs is best, on men it goes right across the nipple line. Because of our lady lumps, we need to modify it by going right below, in order to get as close to the heart as possible.
