Bakery vs. Hotel Cakes...

Does anyone have a recommendation of a bakery in Cabo that does wedding cakes?

From the sounds of it most of you are getting cakes from your recpetion venues. How have the cakes been at these sites? Do you get to give direction to the bakers on how you want the cake to look?

there have been some mixed reviews on cakes. a bride recently used Jennifer hatton and loved her cake but another bride hated her cake...it was the wrong flavor and i saw a pic, the cake was U-G-L-Y!

i guess it depends on how big of cake-lovers your group will be...my group loves dessert but not so much cake...i had a chocolate mousse and berry dessert served but also had a cake for traditional purposes and we ate like 1/4 of the cake...such a waste.

I'm a cake lover (especially for wedding cakes...I think they are so beautiful) so this is a huge deal for me! I have fallen in love with a cake I saw in a magazine and can't stop thinking about it...I must have that cake! Did Dreams let you give them direction on the look/style of the cake, or do they just have a standard cake(s) for you to chose from?

This is a little add to Sweet dreams for all the cupcakes idea fans out there. I asked her about it for our wedding ( we would have 12 people) this is what she said..

"Yes, I can do cupcakes :) I have done quite a few 'cupcake wedding cakes', but to be honest, never that few... I think the challenge would be finding a tiered stand that is the appropriate size for only 12 cupcakes without 'drowing' them out. I have a tiered cake stand (that I can rent to clients), but the tiers are much larger in diameter and height than shown in your photo. Do you think you could source a stand where you live or on the net and bring it with you? If so, let me know, and I'd be happy to work on the cupcake design with you.

Also, would you want the cupcakes decorated with flowers and petals as in the photo? Or do you want to stick with the seashell idea, or maybe both? Another thing to think about with cupcakes are the cupcake papers. I have silver foil, or paper (white, pastel colors or red), however if you would like anything different or specific it might be best if you bring them with you to Cabo, as it is next to impossible to source that kind of thing down here."
