Is Joann Fabrics worth the drive?

So, recently I've really had it in my mind that I want to sew a dog bed for my 70 lb dog because I refuse to pay the expensive price tag for the designer ones. I keep hearing about Joann Fabrics and am curious if it's worth the drive to Buffalo. I live in Toronto, and am willing to take the drive to Buffalo, but if there is a poor selection or the prices are high then, I'm not sure if I want to do the drive. I'd love advise from those sewers out there.

I am a novice sewer, but Joann is by far the best place that i know of for fabric. However, since it's only fora dog bed, you might be able to get something at a place more local to you. I have also found that Joann's are hit or miss with what they have. There are two within driving distance to me and one sucks, and the other is great. You might want to think about what you want and give them a call to see if they have various fabrics that fall into the category of what you are looking for.

Thanks Carly. Well, right now it's a dog bed, but am wanting to do more once that's done. It sounds like a store called Fabricland here. It is definitely a hit or a miss depending on which one you go to. But thanks for telling about the coupon. I'll have to do that anyhow.

We only have one JoAnn here and it is great so based on that, I would say yes. I have found tht Hobby Lobby has better sales and Hancock's has the best selection, but it is pricey.

Overall, I think the cheapest place to buy fabric is WalMart. You might want to try there first, since it just for a dog bed, and see what is available.

You girls beat me! We have an 85lbs dog and by the dog beds from Costco. They are 19.99 and are great quality. Although most of them now are cedar filled. So if you have an issue w/cedar you may not like them. But fleas can't live in cedar so thats' why they are in there. I've also heard of some people having dogs allergic to cedar

but we only have Joann here so I would have to say yes! Ha!
