This is such an amazing idea! I just ordered 200 leds and 200 batteries from China (ebay) for about 40.00 and they had free shipping. We received them the other day, and just tested them out tonight - I'm so happy it works! 4 of them in my 16 inch paper lanterns seem to be perfect! I'm going to see how long the batteries last so that I can see what sort of time frame I have while down at the wedding. Ideally I'd like to tape together all of the throwies a day or two ahead of time - and the FI and best man can be in charge of hanging the lanterns/installing lights the day of the wedding if the hotel won't hang them for us :)

I'm planning to do these too. Got the leds, still waiting on the batteries. Hoping those come this week so we can give them a try.

Hi.  Can you please share which vendor you used on Ebay?  I've been looking and i'm not sure exactly which kind of lights and batteries to order.  Feel stupid.. don't want to order the wrong ones from China.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!

Sure! I felt the same way myself, and just kind of crossed my fingers and went for it! lol. Thankfully, it worked! :)

I realized when I went into ebay...I actually paid $48.00 for everything ($24.00 from each seller). Still...that works out to .24 cents per light, and I figure we need 4 per lantern...leaving us at less than $1.00 per lantern, and they are totally wireless :) Much better than paying for those LED battery packs that still require AA batteries for the lanterns....as they run around 5 bucks each at least....

Ok, so here is the link for the lights. I offered them 12.00 per 100 lights, so 24.00 for 200. I think I started off with offering $10 per 100 and they came back with a counter offer maybe? I think the key with the lights is that they are "diffused" which is supposed to give a better glow. I know nothing about these, but that's just what I read. They came in about a week and a half from Hong Kong :)

And here is the link for the batteries. These took about 2-3 weeks to come in, but can't complain with free shipping from China. The batteries come in packs of 20 and I ordered 10 to get 200, so I believe I started off offering about $2.00 per pack X 10 packs.......and they countered with 2.40 and I accepted.

Really all you need besides this is some reall good tape, and it's important to wrap them tightly so they don't flicker. My test lights have been going strong for 24 hours now, and I am hoping they actually last at least a few days - although I've read they could last for weeks. Time will tell :)

Happy Planning!
