Bringing stuff into Cabo- Help!

Recommended Posts

We brought 4 bags checked and 4 carry ons between the 2 of us. I sorted the bagas and made a file of the reciept copies for each. they only thing they wanted to look at after x ray was the koozies and showed them the reciept folder she BARELY looked at it, opend and then closed and sent us on our way, No problems!

We did have one bag that was over $200 but I just faked a receipt for the pashminas to make them less and it was never even questioned.

Well I made some research my self in my visit to Villa del Arco to start with my planning. My WC told couple terrible stories of shipping items. For example, previous bride sent the sand for the ceremony, shells, a printer, etc. She ended up paying like 300 USD taxes, and they took out the sand, because nothing dusty is legal to be ship.

Other bride lost her whole package because she send things that were considered medicine and needed special import permissions: chapsticks, antibactirial gel, sunblock.

So the advice is to brind everything in the plane. She also advised me to spread the favors and decoration among my closest guests, like my parents , etc. to avoid the extra bag fee.

Hope it helps!! I'll tell you in three weeks how it goes.

Yes, that is a good idea, my best friend who get married in Puerto Vallarta give me a tip, just in case divide all your items like the wedding favors, shells, candles, etc with your closer family and friends, but keep the most important and fragil things with you...like the champagne flutes, rings, wedding dress, etc.

As others have said, it'd be safer to bring things with you rather than ship. We ended up upgrading our tickets to first class to get extra baggage allowance. Then we loaded up all our OOT stuff and favors into a giant Home Depot box with bubble wrap, and taped it all up. At the airport, we checked it no problem, then picked it up when we landed in Mexico. It was pretty smooth and I'd recommend doing this if you can. Also, if you dont want to squish your dress you can bring that in a garment bag separately and there is place in the plane closet for that.
